COVE is where marine technology leaders develop solutions for a better and sustainable world.

About us

On the water and around the world, COVE propels Canada's marine innovation. COVE is where ideas become solutions, technologies become ventures, and opportunities become careers. We connect people, ideas, resources and assets to propel solutions and sustainable growth for Canada's marine sector. Our facilities, spanning 51,000 square meters along the waterfront in Canada's deepest harbour, provide the best space in the world to turn ideas into commercial solutions. Ocean technology companies, post-secondary researchers, and marine-based service businesses come to COVE for programming and short- and long-term tenancies. Our facility features offices, shared workspaces, social and community spaces, and workshops equipped with electrical capabilities, all designed to foster a dynamic ecosystem. Here, small and medium-sized enterprises, along with development teams from larger corporations, converge to form a collaborative commercial community. COVE's marine terminal offers excellent vessel accommodation with water depths ranging from 4 to 15 meters and crane access up to 200 tons. The site includes floating docks, wharf face, and finger piers, with year-round access to utilities and secure parking. It also provides easy connections to the community and amenities, along with 2 acres for operational and storage needs. COVE demonstrates its commitment to environmental stewardship with dedicated charging points for electric-powered vessels.

At COVE Demo Day 2024, Jessica Jerome, a two-spirited artist and graphic designer, was commissioned to capture the essence of the event. Her painting, titled "We Embrace the Sea", illustrates our connection to the sea's resources. The ship's wheel, introduced by Europeans, is surrounded by the four Mi'kmaw directions, representing the seasons. The painting highlights our shared harvest of seafood, with jakej (lobster) symbolizing this bounty. The blue surrounding the wheel represents the ocean, and the two ships at the bottom are petroglyphs of vessels carved by Mi'kmaw ancestors upon meeting Europeans. 🌊 Jessica, born in Listuguj Mi'gmaq First Nation and adopted by the Jerome family in Gesgapegiag, is a member of the Micmacs of Gesgapegiag Band on the Gaspe Coast, Quebec. Inspired by her late biological mother, she began her artistic journey and transitioned from painting landscapes to traditional Aboriginal imagery with a contemporary vision. Jessica holds a Graphic Design Diploma and an Applied Media and Communication Arts Certificate from Nova Scotia Community College. Her work is showcased in galleries across Quebec, Nova Scotia, Canada, and Germany. She collaborates with Indigenous businesses, has illustrated books, and has worked as a colourist. COVE is delighted to work with talented #Indigenous entrepreneurs like Jessica and looks forward to future collaborations that enhance our understanding of our connections to the world. A huge thank you to Jessica for the incredible painting!
