About us

The Calgary Stampede celebrates the people, the animals, the land, the traditions and the values that make up the unique spirit of the west. The Calgary Stampede contributes to the quality of life in Calgary and southern Alberta through our world-renowned Stampede, year-round facilities, western events and several youth and agriculture programs. Exemplifying the theme We’re Greatest Together, we are a volunteer-supported, not-for-profit community organization that preserves and celebrates our western heritage, cultures and community spirit. All revenue is reinvested into Calgary Stampede programs and facilities. Our western hospitality and community spirit earned us the Waterstone Award for Canada’s Top 10 Admired Corporate Cultures in the Public Sector category for 2013 and Mediacorp Canada Inc announced the Calgary Stampede as one of Alberta’s Top 65 Employers.

This week the 11th annual Pride Day, supported by BMO, Mott's and WCD, welcomed the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and allies to Nashville North last Saturday afternoon. Guests donned cheeky name tags and rainbow boot stickers, adding a touch of colour to guest’s western wear. The sixth annual Western Trailblazer Award presented by BMO reflects the heart of Pride Day, recognizing and celebrating an individual who volunteers their time, influence and courage to make opportunities more accessible to the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. The Western Trailblazer Award was presented to Daphne Dike-Hart who has made remarkable contributions to the 2SLGBTQIA+ community in Calgary and the broader community in Southern Alberta, advocating for Black and Queer communities. Dike-Hart's work with Black Pride YYC, a vibrant and inclusive organization, promotes equality, social justice and the celebration of diverse identities to create a safe and inclusive space for everyone to be their authentic selves.

During the Calgary Stampede our team of year-round employees are joined by more than 3,500 seasonal employees who all play crucial roles in welcoming more than a million guests from around the world to The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth! Many of these seasonal jobs are filled by young people who are entering the workforce for the very first time. They receive invaluable life skills and experience for the future. We are also lucky enough to see many of their smiling faces return year after year as they look forward to the Calgary Stampede being their summer job.

It was an awe-inspiring morning at the Calgary Petroleum Club, for the second annual Stampede Shave for the Brave event, organized by Young Adult Cancer Canada (YACC). Ten participants, including the Calgary Stampede’s First Vice Chair, Stuart O’Connor, and Executive Vice President, Business Services and Chief Financial Officer, Graeme Ryder, wrangled their networks and have been fundraising for the past few weeks, in anticipation of going under the clippers to “Shave for the Brave”. YACC supports young adults living with, through, and beyond cancer, with an emphasis on creating connection and helping them build a network to share their stories with support from their peers who are going through similar experiences. The Calgary Stampede is about celebrating community spirit and lending a hand to our neighbours, and we are very proud to support YACC.
