Michelee Crawford
Michelee Crawford (also known as Shelly) is a member of the Nevada Board of Regents, representing District 8. She assumed office on January 13, 2023. Her current term ends on January 12, 2029.
Crawford (Democratic Party) is running for election to the Nevada State Senate to represent District 1. She is on the ballot in the general election on November 5, 2024. She advanced from the Democratic primary on June 11, 2024.
Biography
Michelee "Shelly" Crawford lives in Nevada. She served in the Air Force National Guard. Crawford earned an associate degree in psychology from the College of Southern Nevada High School in 2000, a bachelor's degree in psychology and a master's degree in curriculum and instruction from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, in 2004 and 2010, respectively. Crawford also obtained a bachelor's degree in teaching English as a second language from Sierra Nevada College. Her career experience includes working as a school principal and a teacher. Crawford's volunteer experience includes serving on the Nevada Department of Education’s Principal Advisory Committee; the Nevada National Guard’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion task force; the Nevada Association of School Administrators as board secretary; and the Nevada Association of Latino Administrators.[1][2]

|Michelee "Shelly" Crawford has lived in Nevada for the past 30 years as a wife, mother, military service member, and educator. Crawford is a first-generation high school and college graduate that attended Community College of Southern Nevada- AA Psychology, Sierra Nevada College- BA Teaching English as a Second Language, University of Nevada Las Vegas- M.Ed Curriculum and Instruction, University of Phoenix- Literacy certificate, Georgetown University- Public Policy certificate, and currently William Howard Taft University- Ed.D Leadership and Education Administration. She wrote the nonpartisan Senate Bill 352 which provided $10 million for education workforce development, she assisted with Broadband Act to provide broadband internet to rural communities, recipient of the 2021 DEI Nevada National Guard award, and was named the Public Education Foundation’s Educator Hero of the year.
- Increasing opportunities for access to college while expanding high school to college dual enrollment programs.
- Increasing programming resources for rural NSHE institutions.
- Restoring board credibility with collective work focused on outcomes measured by student enrollment, program diversification, and stakeholder climate surveys.
