2012
Stratton's website highlighted the following campaign themes:[10]
- Education & Innovation
- Excerpt: "Education is our greatest opportunity and our biggest challenge. Funding is always in short supply and innovation and technology must help close the gap. We must also create a healthy economic environment to meet revenue needs and create ongoing educational partnerships. Every child deserves a great education."
- Economic Vitality
- Excerpt: "We are all seeing businesses popping up along the I-15 corridor. They provide great jobs for our valley. And those new businesses will support many small businesses that create more solutions for a variety of industries."
- Growing Sustainably
- Excerpt: "Utah County population is growing. Planning and anticipating for that growth is critical to be ready for the next 20 years. We need to continue to assure our state and communities are safe and prepared. Planning for sustainable communities that match unprecedented growth doesn’t happen by accident."
- Immigration
- Excerpt: "America is an immigrant nation. As such, illegal immigration is caused by poorly constructed legal immigration policies, policies the federal government has failed to fix."
- Taxes
- Excerpt: "Too often, government forgets that tax dollars belong to taxpayers, not government bureaucracies. We place a sacred trust in government to use tax dollars to responsibly support a basic level of government services such as a police force, road construction and public schools. An excessive tax burden means less freedom, fewer economic opportunities, and generally more difficult lives for Utahns."

Scorecards
A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.
Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
