Biography
Derrin Owens earned a master's degree in education and school counseling. Owens' career experience includes working as a social science teacher, a coach at Juab High School, and an executive director of economic development.[1][2]

Derrin Owens defeated Claudia Jarrett, Jeff McDonald, Katrina Long, and Jamison McPherson in the Republican special election on July 30.[6][7]
The seat was vacant following Jon Cox's (R) resignation on July 8, 2015.[8]
A Republican special election for the position of Utah House of Representatives District 58 was called for July 30. The winner of the Republican special election was appointed to the seat by the governor. The filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was July 23, 2015.[6]
