DORZELL KING JR is an incredible CANDIDATE! He spent 2 years as an Early Childhood Educator, then 10 years a permanent Sub educator. He earned his BA in Religion with a focus in Youth and Family Ministry and he was recognized with an Honorary Doctorate in Social Advocacy from Diakonia Christian Institute.

DORZELL works as a Client Solutions Account Manager. In his spare time he hosts a Sunday morning home bible study and enjoys time with his family. (He is also quite the SINGER!) Reno has been home for DORZELL KING JR for over 8 years. He's a single father and Foster Parent.

  • CLASSROOM RATIOS: 1 to 30 is too much, plain and simple. Teachers much be able to effectively engage their students and the parents of those students. Early Childhood and Grade Schools should be limited to approximately 10-12. At the High School level, no more than 15-20. Proper classroom size reduces behavior issues, allows for better engagement and helps our students retain the information they are learning.
  • STUDENT AND TEACHER SAFETY: The right ratios lead us to improved student and teacher safety. Too often we hear of violence against a student or teacher and it takes too long for someone to intervene. 1) Physical violence against a teacher can NEVER be tolerated. This should lead to automatic removal of that student from the public learning space. 2) Teachers and Students should be educated on GANG VIOLENCE and the signs that someone may be involved in a gang or being harassed by one. 3) Self-Defense, MARTIAL ARTS and BOXING classes could be offered as extra-curricular activities. These sports can help build confidence and create a positive outlet for those students who sign up.
  • CAREER DEVELOPMENT: We are competing in GLOBAL MARKET and our students must have what they need to THRIVE! Students should be exposed to TRADES and have early in-roads to NEVADA companies. They should also be exposed to industries that are growing on the global stage. This gives student and parents the ability to make informed decisions about the FUTURE.

Policy related to Education, Family Law and Small Business

First is do the right thing by people. All of our issues are not simple to solve, but every official should be able to table personal issues/gain and make sure we do what's right for those who elected. I am guided by my faith in God, the wisdom of the lessons life has brought to me, and old fashion common sense. Along with doing the right thing, we should trustworthy and follow through on our commitments. Lastly, we should be approachable. To be elected is an honor and we should treat it that way.

First job was at 14 working for a little "knick-knack" shop in my neighborhood. I was paid $3 an hour in cash for helping clean up the store

The Road Less Traveled by M. Scott Peck

There is no reason that government should not accountable. We also need and should insist on financial transparency.

ADMINSTRATIVE EFFICIENCY

With my day job, I KNOW how this can get WAY OUT OF HAND! Before long, reports start to compound and no one has stopped to ask, DO WE REALLY NEED THIS? Is anyone READING this? I will advocate to streamline reporting so that our educators can spend their time doing what they LOVE - creating SUCCESSFUL children and young adults. [2]

Originally from Kansas City, KS, I have lived and working in Reno, NV since 2015. Professionally, I work as an Account Manager for a Business Process Outsourcing company and have been with them for over 6 years. My role is to help manage the financial and contractual relationship between my company and our banking client. I also look for ways to grow the relationship.

Apart from work, I am single parent and a volunteer board member of the Northern NV Red Cross.

I'm running for office because I will help create solutions with thoughtful, visionary and passionate leadership. People can work together to find solutions- and we can do this without hatred.

Lastly, I value fiscal responsibility and minimal taxation. I am moderate on most social issues and I am willing to work across the aisle.

  • Thoughtful and Compassionate Leadership - Responsive to the needs of every member of our community
  • Visionary Leadership - If we can envision a better day, then we can take actions to bring that future into the present
  • Limited and Responsible Government - Government exists to serve the people, and it takes good law makers to ensure that our rights are protected and that spending is responsible and not waisteful.

First is Education and a parent's right to choose where their child and their tax dollars go.

Secondly, Housing should be available for all Nevadans at a market rate aligned to their resources. When housing in not affordable, or simply not available, this creates instability for our families.

Lastly, we must have policies that help our workforce become more skilled and able to compete globally.

To be authentic and aware of the biases you bring to the conversation. We must also be articulate and confident in our beliefs so that dialogue is robust and meaningful which allows us to create the best outcomes.

I believe that people are most important. To make decisions, we have to be honest and dedicated facts without losing sight of those impacted.

The Road Less Traveled by Dr. M. Scott Peck. I refer to it often as I reflect on love and faith.
