  • Over the past six months, we've engaged with Victorians across the state to help develop a plan for Victoria. We’ve identified eight Big Ideas that have come from over 9,000 pieces of data through more than 850 hours of engagement with the community, local councils and stakeholders. Now, it's your turn to explore these ideas and share how we can bring them to life. Have your say on these Big Ideas at https://lnkd.in/eDgHeVrQ

  • The Smarter Roads program is transforming Melbourne’s arterial road network, improving journey reliability, and reducing delays in response to increasing traffic volumes. We've invested in technology and specialist personnel to help better monitor and manage congestion in Melbourne's most challenging areas- the west, east and south-east. • Australia has one of the largest shipping tasks in the world with over 99% of our international trade carried by sea. Victorians are dependent on global shipping and the seafarers who work in this industry. The Victorian Government is stepping up to support the seafarers who keep our world moving. Long stretches away from family and friends can take a toll. That’s why we're introducing Wi-Fi access and mental health and wellbeing support programs in the Ports of Melbourne, Geelong, Hastings, and Portland. Seafarers can stay connected with loved ones and get support while in port. We know their jobs are tough, this is our way of making it a bit easier. We’re thrilled to see how technology can bring innovative solutions in making public transport more accessible. Through our partnership with LaunchVic, we're proud to be part of the CivVicLabs Transport Access Challenge Showcase. Last week, ten startups presented their ideas for this challenge. Each startup received $15,000 in funding to develop their solutions to the question, "How might we use technology to ensure that all passengers have fair and equitable access to public transport?" Special thanks to our Chief Accessibility Advocate, Tricia Malowney OAM DLI MAICD BA - for being part of the judging panel, our Director of Transport Accessibility and Inclusion, David Simmonds - for his time mentoring participants and Transport Accessibility and Inclusion manager, Alastair Stewart for his support. We're excited to see how these initiatives will lead to a more accessible future.

  • Draft housing targets have been set out for Victorian councils with a focus on delivering housing near existing infrastructure, like public transport and essential services. In short, building more homes where people want to live in Melbourne and regional cities. The state-wide targets aim to support the creation of the 2.24 million new homes Victoria will need by 2051. This includes: 🏡Banyule: +47,000 homes 🏡Boroondara: +67,000 homes 🏡Hobsons Bay: +31,000 homes 🏡Stonnington: +51,000 homes 🏡Greater Geelong: +139,800 homes 🏡Greater Shepparton: +14,500 homes We'll be consulting and collaborating with councils on how the housing targets might best apply to their municipalities - giving them confidence in where new homes will be built in Victoria, as well as a clear pathway for their planning and delivery. Developing a new plan for Victoria will ensure there is a shared vision for delivering more homes for Victorians. Find out more here: https://lnkd.in/gSiuPfBi
