With limited access to 3D planning models and analysis, the Glen Eira City Council needed a solution to accurately assess complex planning proposals and provide detailed, accessible information to their community about proposed developments. Supported by $300,000 from our Digital Planning Grants program, they have delivered a 3D city model (Digital Glen Eira) and have access to advanced 3D planning software. This allows council staff to produce highly detailed 3D models of proposed developments in their community. We're excited to be back this year, showcasing the Future Homes project as part of Open House Melbourne 2024, happening at Big Plans in North Melbourne on 28 July. As part of our commitment to raising the standard of Melbourne’s apartments to better meet the needs of residents and communities. The Future Homes project features designs selected through a competition process and further developed with specialist input. These designs promote sustainability, liveability, and family-friendly features. Our team of architects and planners will be on hand to take you on a guided tour through life-sized plans providing insight into the evolution of the designs, including the approach to landscape architecture, sustainability, accessibility, and other key features. From October, new rules for e-scooters will come into action to improve safety for riders and other road users. The new rules will include higher fines for riding on footpaths, not wearing a helmet, drinking while riding, speeding, carrying a passenger and underage riding. Next year, e-scooter companies will also need to meet new standards to operate, ensuring their devices are to the highest safety standards. For more information visit https://lnkd.in/een--SDg

With the opening of the new Ringwood East Station and the removal of nine level crossings, the Lilydale Line is now Metro Trains Melbourne's first level crossing-free line. In addition to building six new stations along the line, the removal of level crossings will improve connections and access, reduce congestion, and allow for more trains more often.

All six of RISING Melbourne's 2024 Art Trams, Blak on Track, curated by Jarra Steel, are now on the tracks. This year’s work are a movable tapestry of mediums, styles and ideas—a celebration of the breadth and dynamism of First Peoples expression enriching the city. That’s why we're introducing Wi-Fi access and mental health and wellbeing support programs in the Ports of Melbourne, Geelong, Hastings, and Portland.
