QUESTIONS WITH ANCAP: Does ANCAP crash test motorcycles? While ANCAP doesn’t conduct crash tests of motorcycles due to their lack of a protective structure, we do rigorously test passenger cars, including SUVs, utilities, and small vans. Since 2023, we've been pushing for advanced safety features like autonomous emergency braking and lane support in cars to better protect motorcycle riders by identifying and responding to motorcycles nearby, reducing crash risks. Meet one of our most recent additions to the ANCAP family... Our motorcycle dummy. In 2023 we began assessing the ability of vehicles to avoid crashes with motorcyclists. The motorcycle dummy is used in autonomous braking, lane support and blind spot monitoring tests. Much like the bicycle dummy we've had in the mix since 2018, the motorcycle dummy sits astride their motorcycle, and is propelled along the test track by a GPS-controlled platform. #ANCAP #AEB #Motorcycle #Crashtest #ADAS #dummy
