There are different types of autonomous emergency braking (AEB) systems in vehicles today. Newer AEB system can now detect pedestrians or cyclists in traffic while reverse emergency braking systems can detect when objects are too close to the vehicle’s rear end. These AEB system can be helpful to prevent potential collisions. But drivers should remain focused while driving and pay attention to their surrounding traffic environment. 🚨Safety needs an improved AEB🚨 Another important Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) development in 2023 is the evaluation of a vehicle’s ability to prevent head-on crashes with oncoming vehicles and when crossing paths at a T-junction. The high approach speed of such scenarios requires, amongst others, sensors with a wide field of view to detect and react over a longer distance. New EU rules around active safety features in new cars came into effect on 7th July underlining crash avoidance as the future of automotive safety. Our own research found that the right combination of ADAS features can reduce motor claims frequency by 30%.
