Social Neurobiology of Eating

Eating is a rich multisensory experience that has the capacity to trigger evaluative processing, emotional states and stored memories. Eating is also an activity that frequently occurs in the presence others, in both the most special and the most mundane of circumstances. The act of eating, the social environment, and the brain are therefore interlinked in numerous ways.  This special issue explores a wide variety of them, blending perspectives, concepts and findings from cognitive neuroscience, social psychology and population health.

Neuromodulation Special Issue

Neuromodulation is a key tool for understanding the causal contributions of different brain regions to different psychological functions. This special issue brings together contributions from top labs around that world that use neuromodulation tools like tDCS and TMS to examine the social and affective functions of the brain.

Computational Methods in Social Neuroscience Special Issue

Researchers studying how the human brain represents and navigates the social world increasingly integrate theory and methods from social psychology and neuroscience with approaches from network science, machine learning, and computational modeling. This special issue will highlight and synthesize recent advances in social neuroscience that have been enabled by the application of computational methods, as well as methodological innovations and perspectives likely to be of particular interest and utility to researchers studying the neural basis of social thought and behavior.

Interpersonal Synchrony Special Issue

Interpersonal synchrony and alignment in social interactions are now being explored on different levels of complexity, from hormones and physiology, to neural oscillations, behavioral attunement and linguistic alignment. The purpose of this special issue is to assemble a timely collection of empirical and theoretical papers on the mechanisms and functions of interpersonal synchrony bringing together perspectives from cognitive neuroscience, developmental, social and clinical psychology, linguistics, musicology, and computational neuroscience.

Health Neuroscience Special Issue

Health Neuroscience is a burgeoning interdisciplinary field combining Psychology and Neuroscience to understand the interplay between the brain and health over the lifespan. The collection represents a diverse array of scientists from various stages of career, training, geographical location, gender, and, most importantly, intellectual perspectives.
