Less than a week after he underwent surgery on an essential operation which was paid for by a fundraising drive involving his club’s fans, former team-mates and ordinary football lovers who wanted to right a wrong after his club refused to pay the bill, Dubliner Aaron Doran admits that he’s still finding it hard to process the stress and trauma he has been put through.

“I got my P45 on the day of my surgery, after 14 years there. It’s pretty disgraceful,” says Doran of how things ended with Scotland’s crisis club, Inverness Caledonian Thistle.
