If he wins the league title in Israel next Saturday, Robbie Keane will make history. The Dubliner has all but won the championship as his Maccabi Tel Aviv side are eight points clear at the top with three games to play.

Not since Dubliner Patrick O’Connell led Real Betis to the Spanish league crown in 1936 has a coach from this country won a major trophy with a club in a European league outside of Ireland and the UK.
