Peamount must face a Belarus side in round one of the Women’s Champions League qualifying

After winning their first league title last year since 2020, Peas now enter round one of Women’s Champions League qualifying on September 4.

Round one will see a mini-tournament take place where James O’Callaghan’s side must win their semi-final against the Belarusian outfit before ZNK Osijek (Croatia) or Spartak Myjava (Slovakia) await in the final on September 7.

The winners of that final will then progress to round two, where a two-legged play-off in late September will determine who progresses to the Champions League group stage in October.

Peamount became the first Irish side (men and women’s) to qualify for a European knockout round in 2011 when, under current Ireland boss Eileen Gleeson, the Newcastle side made it to the last 32 where they were knocked out by PSG. Current internationals Lousie Quinn and Julie-Ann Russell were part of that history-making team.

Dinamo-BSUPC, based in Minsk, secured their fourth successive league title last season. The venue and kick-off times for September's mini-tournament will be confirmed by UEFA in due course.

Elsewhere, Katie McCabe’s Arsenal will take on Scotland’s Rangers in their semi-final tie, with the winners facing Atletico Madrid or Rosenberg. The Gunners exited the qualifying phase at the hands of PSG last year, having reached the semi-finals the year before.

Meanwhile, Wexford FC’s Ceola Bergin has been named as the Women’s Premier Division Player of the Month for June.

The forward scored three goals in three league games to help her side up to fifth in the table after wins over Galway United, DLR Waves and Cork City.

The 17-year-old also recently earned a place on the Ireland U-19 squad for their upcoming European Championship campaign, as she edged out Athlone Town's Jesi Rossman and Shelbourne's Noelle Murray in the voting.
