Amanda Serrano continues to insist she won her first fight against Katie Taylor.

Ahead of their rematch in Texas in July, Serrano doubled down on her claim at a press conference in Arlington.

Challenged by an Irish boxing fan to acknowledge she lost the Madison Square Garden showdown in 2022 Serrano said: “Deep down inside I know I won that fight.”

Kevin Gilligan, who is from Dunshaughlin in Meath but lives in Dallasm pointed out that two of the official judges scored the fight 96-93, 97-93 in favour of Katie Taylor. The third judge give Serrano the fight 96-94.

“That is not a close fight. You lost the fight. They are two official judges. You admit you lost the fight,” said Gilligan.

A feisty Serrano responded: “I have been saying it for a long time. I believe I won that fight. You can ask the audience who won that fight, you can even ask your Irish people who won that fight.

“Katie Taylor is a great champion. Like you said, I need a great dance partner and Katie Taylor is that dance partner, but deep down inside I know I won that fight.”

Serrano promised that their July 20 rematch would be even better than the original fight, which was arguably the greatest women’s professional fight of all time.

As usual Katie was less vocal at the press conference.

“I am putting in the work in the gym and putting my body through the trenches and it gets me ready for this. I cannot wait,” she said.

But she showed her feisty side as well by refusing to participate in a question and answer segment where the four fighters on the platform, Taylor, Serrano, Mike Tyson, and Jake Paul, were asked to tell the fans something about themselves that wasn’t known.

Taylor responded, ‘It is none of their business.”

She also hit back at Serrano’s claims about who won the MSG showdown, stating that the ‘right winner won’

Taylor, now the unified super lightweight world champion following her victory over Chantelle Cameron in Dublin in November recalled the clash against Serrano in New York.

"It was a fantastic fight, but the right winner won, and I plan to do the same thing on July 20. I'm sitting beside Mike Tyson here. This is the winner's table right here."

"I feel like I'm a better fighter this time around. I'm smarter, I'm stronger, I'm better in every way. I took her biggest shots at the first fight. I take confidence and reassurance from that.

“I took her hardest punches - I took them and I'm ready to go. On July 20, I'll be at my very, very best and we'll see who the better fighter is.

"I already believe I’m the best female fighter in the world pound-for-pound, and I'll prove it again on July 20."
