Hotel review: Dublin’s rock-star reboots as a five-star but it’s missing the X factor

Part of Hilton’s Curio Collection of ‘one-of-a-kind’ hotels, we checked in to The Morrison in Dublin

Since it opened in 1999, The Morrison has been on a rock-n-roll-style roller coaster. Its debut was the talk of the town, with design by Douglas Wallace and John Rocha. It sparkled as an unsubtle jewel in the Celtic Tiger’s crown, with Taittinger-fuelled launch parties and celeb guests ranging from Beyoncé and Jay Z to Erin Brockovich. It spent time in Nama, before being bought by Russian billionaire Elena Baturina.

Today, it’s staging something of a comeback as part of Hilton’s Curio Collection — a series of “one-of-a-kind” hotels that lean into local culture in locations from Sydney to Seattle. Oh, and a €5m refurb has seen it become the capital’s newest five-star. So what’s it like to stay?
