“The food here is so delicious, from the canapés to dessert, prepare to be wowed,” readers said of the Cashel Palace Hotel’s flagship restaurant.

“Fine dining at its best.”

The Bishop’s Buttery is today named ‘Ireland’s Best Hotel Restaurant’ in our Reader Travel Awards 2024.

The hotel reopened in 2022 after a major investment and refurbishment by the Magnier family, and food has been a focus since the get-go.

“Just a culinary delight,” you said. “Food, staff and decor sublime.”

Diners referenced the “superb”, “fabulous”, “top-class” and “very memorable” food created by Director of Culinary Stephen Hayes, head chef Stephen McEnteer and their teams. Here is “a true culinary feast and taste-bud heaven”.

Our judges noted how this classy reboot of the Cashel Palace’s fine-dining room combines excellent cooking, service that is professional without being intimidating, an elegant yet cosy ambiance, and a laser-like focus on local and Irish produce.

The restaurant is open for lunch (Friday-Sunday) and dinner (Tuesday-Sunday), when à la carte or tasting menu options are offered. Its private dining room, afternoon teas and casual counterpoint in Mikey Ryan’s gastropub complete the picture of a revitalised five-star with a cutting foodie edge.
