Review: The Volvo XC60 offers power, safety, luxury and fuel efficiency — but with one inconvenient catch

Sales of EVs might have fallen, but plug-in hybrids seem to address the concerns of buyers who want to go electric without the worry - as long as your charge them regularly

While electric car sales have declined in the first half of this year and are down around 22pc from 2023, hybrid sales are on the rise. The regular hybrid share of new car sales now stands at 20pc, a 12.24pc increase from this time last year. And sales of plug-in hybrid (PHEV) vehicles have risen more than 15pc this year.

The price of electric cars is falling, so it’s most likely that concerns around the charging infrastructure and resale values are driving hybrids’ popularity.
