Audi’s latest S3 hot performance motor now pumps 333PS after an extensive upgrade of the car.

It will come as a saloon or sportback, and goes on sale next month.

This is mighty powerful stuff from the two-litre TFSi – it’s up 23PS on the previous model – as it can zip from zero to 100kmh in 4.7 seconds.

Engine and transmission also get sportier tuning with the seven-speed S tronic gearbox giving a more spontaneous take-off.

There are six distinct driving modes: auto, comfort, dynamic, individual, efficiency and new dynamic-plus mode.

The S sports suspension is standard, and lowers the body by 15mm. There are larger ventilated brake disks on the front axle, and four tailpipes with an optional performance exhaust system creating a louder sound.

Sports seats have integrated headrests and side bolsters to improve lateral support.

As well as DAB+ digital radio and the 10.1in touch display, the Audi virtual cockpit plus, and inductive smartphone charger come as standard.
