European elections offer political barometer for key local issues, with old stalwarts holding their own

The local and European elections bring to mind the phrase “all politics is local”. The results this weekend help inform who will govern the country for the next five years, and will also influence the future direction of Europe during that time.

It is no longer a given that one election is more important than the other. The European elections are no longer a “second order” sideshow.
