Fertiliser sales down 33% since 2021, with 18% reduction achieved this year
The Department of Agriculture could enforce a reduction of 20pc in the chemical nitrogen applied nationally from January 2024.
Fertiliser sales have fallen by 18pc to 1,135,860t this year compared to 2022 figures, marking a 33pc reduction since 2021, new data from the Fertilizer Association of Ireland has shown.
Nitrogen sales have dropped by 18pc to 280,569t, a 30pc reduction in tonnes of nitrogen sold since 2021.
