Lando Norris had his Lewis Hamilton complaint dismissed by McLaren chief Zak Brown in Q2. The two Brits were contending for pole position at the British Grand Prix at Silverstone.

Norris was on the team radio claiming Hamilton was swerving as they got ready for the final outlap. "Yeah, Hamilton swerved pretty aggressively towards me. I had to avoid him, mate," Norris said.

However, his claims were dismissed by Sky Sports F1 pundit Martin Brundle and Brown. "I don't see an issue there," Brundle said. Brown replied: "Just pointing out some activity on the track but I agree with Martin, I don't think it will come to anything."

The British duo managed to make it through Q2 unscathed and they ended up helping complete three Brits on the front row for Sunday's race - the first since 1968. Hamilton looked like he had placed himself in pole position but teammate George Russell, Austria's race winner, snatched P1 as Norris was forced to abort a final attempt.

Norris is optimistic about challenging the Silver Arrows, though. McLaren appears to be the car to beat at the minute in F1. "I’m happy with P3, three Brits in the top three is pretty cool here," Norris said following qualifying. "Good laps by George and Lewis. I want the rain again tomorrow, I’m excited! Bring the fight to George and Lewis. We’re going to have some good battles!”

Hamilton, who hasn't won an F1 race since Saudi Arabia in 2022, has called on teammate Russell to work together to keep Norris and Verstappen behind them. "Big thanks to this incredible crowd; three Brits in the top three. And congratulations to George, he did such an amazing job," Hamilton said. "We definitely didn't expect to be front row this weekend but this is huge for us. The car felt fantastic. Everyone in the garage, all our team that have come here really deserve this. As I said, the car felt great.

"It was just about getting the tyre temperatures in the right place and sealing the deal when you knew you had the time on track. I think, ultimately, there was still time left on the table - which George was able to find. But I feel really confident about the car tomorrow, and with the conditions we have we can work together to keep Lando behind."

Russell is stepping up to the plate at Mercedes. He has been the Silver Arrows' last two Grand Prix winners. He stood on top of the podium in Brazil in 2022, and then Austria last weekend following Norris and Verstappen's late double KO.

"What a feeling! At the start of this year we couldn't have dreamt of being on pole here," said Russell. "One-two for me and Lewis, Lando P3. Just mega. It's down to all these fans as well. They give us so much energy. The car at the moment is feeling so good.

"It really came alive in qualy. What a joy to drive around this circuit. We are riding this wave at the moment. Absolutely buzzing. But eyes on tomorrow. We have a race to win. It will be tight with Lando and Max will be fast as well. I'm so excited right now."
