Lewis Hamilton is the richest British sportsperson in history with a nine-figure fortune which far beats out his F1 compatriots.

F1’s British trio will be hoping for a successful home Grand Prix at Silverstone this weekend. Lewis Hamilton, George Russell and Lando Norris are all in contention for a solid showing, and maybe even victory.

The top step of the podium is one they’re all familiar with. But Hamilton has, of course, tasted victory far more than his compatriots, with his 103 victories the record in Formula One history.

And his legendary career has seen him rake in the cash both on and off the track, meaning his net worth dwarfs that of Russell and Norris. According to the Sunday Times Rich List, the 39-year-old has a fortune of £300million.

That eye-watering sum has seen him become the richest Brit sportsperson of all-time, surpassing David Beckham for the mantle in 2020. Russell and Norris have some catching up to do to take that title from him, although they’re not doing bad for themselves either.

Hamilton’s Mercedes team-mate is estimated to be worth in excess of $16m (£12.5m), thanks in large part due to his $18m (£14m) salary. McLaren’s star man, meanwhile, is said to have $30m (£23.4m) of assets to his name, per Celebrity Net Worth.

Norris is paid slightly more than Russell with an annual wage of $20m (£15.6m). Both have sponsorship deals that boost their earnings, but they again pale in comparison to Hamilton’s.

The seven-time world champion has countless lucrative endorsements, including with the likes of Tommy Hilfiger and Monster Energy Drinks. He even has an impact on the value of others.

When his shock switch to Ferrari was announced earlier this year, the Italian manufacturer’s share price shot up by 10 per cent - equating to just under $7billion (£5.48bn). They’re set to further boost his bank balance in the coming years.

The multi-season contract he’s signed with them is reportedly worth a staggering $446m (£348m). So Russell and Norris will be staying behind him at least on the rich list for now.
