  • Gareth Southgate's side face Switzerland for a semi-final place on Saturday

England stars took part in a breath-work session led by best selling author and BBC Radio 1 DJ Stuart Sandeman, as they recovered from their dramatic last-16 win over Slovakia on Sunday.

Gareth Southgate 's side were saved from the embarrassment of an early exit in Gelsenkirchen by Jude Bellingham's stunning bicycle kick in the 95th-minute before Harry Kane scored the winner within seconds of the start of extra-time.

Players involved in those gruelling 120 minutes of action enjoyed a change of pace at England's Blankenhain training base on Monday, in a session led by Sandeman.

The 41-year-old is a globally recognised breathing expert and performance coach, the host of BBC Radio 1’s Decompression Session, the bestselling author of Breathe In Breathe Out, and the founder of Breathpod.

He has previously shared how changing his breathing techniques helped him get over the death of his girlfriend, who tragically lost her battle with cancer in 2016.

For those who took no part in the match against Slovakia, a full training session , overseen by Southgate, was on the agenda.

Among the list of participants was Luke Shaw, who could finally make his tournament bow in the quarter-final against Switzerland.

Victory on Sunday evening set up a last-eight tie with the Swiss, who impressively dispatched defending champions Italy in the previous round.

The sides will take to the field in Dusseldorf on Saturday and vie for a spot in the last-four.

Southgate has a number of selection decisions to make ahead of the tie. His side have been heavily criticised by fans and pundits for their performances in the tournament so far.

Southgate's decision to play Phil Foden - who has been largely ineffective - has been called into question. While, Kieran Trippier's displays have also drawn negative attention.

The promising centre-back pairing of John Stones and Marc Guehi will be disrupted for the clash against the Swiss, with the Crystal Palace defender suspended for the game after picking up his second yellow card in the competition.

Aston Villa's Ezri Konsa is in line to replace him. The 26-year-old came on in extra-time against Slovakia.

He said: ‘I’m always ready. When the gaffer wants to play me, wherever he wants to play, I will step in. I’m always ready.’
