OJ Simpson's drivers license goes up for AUCTION... weeks after football legend turned accused murderer dies

A piece of memorabilia from the life of OJ Simpson has gone up for auction weeks after the NFL legend and accused murderer passed away from a battle with cancer.

Simpson's expired drivers license is currently up for sale with Goldin Auctions in an auction that ends on June 6.

The license was issued in August of 2007 - about one month before he robbed a Las Vegas sports memorabilia dealer - and expired back in July of 2011. At the time of its expiration, Simpson was in jail for the robbery.

This is not the first time since the NFL legend's death that the contents of his pockets have been up for sale.

Towards the end of last month, Simpson's former bank card was sold for $10,675 at Goldin Auctions.

The 'business account' card is red, with pictures showing it actually expired in January of last year.

Simpson, of course, was accused of murdering his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman in 1994.

He was acquitted in the criminal trial for their deaths but was later found liable in a civil trial.

Ironically, the card's seller, Jonathan Lepore is planning on donating 10 percent of the proceeds to the National Network to End Domestic Violence, he told TMZ.

Lepore told the website that he was initially going to gift the card to his friend's dad, who used to hang out with OJ and Nicole during the 80's and 90's.

Goldin received 63 bids for the item.

Despite his legendary college and pro football career, Simpson's alma mater USC - as well as the NFL - stayed silent after his death.

USC coach Lincoln Riley provided what turned out to be the university's only prominent words on Simpson's death during his normal spring football media availability.

'Certainly as a head coach here, you obviously know about his history and his legacy, the kind of player that he was here,' Riley said. 'We definitely, certainly recognize that, and obviously extend our sympathies to his family on their loss.'

The 1968 Heisman winner hadn't been around the team since the murders of Brown and Goldman until he visited USC's practice in Fort Lauderdale in late 2002.

Pete Carroll called Simpson 'a legend' after welcoming him, but the coach and the school received widespread public condemnation for re-associating with Simpson.

His connection with USC was largely finished from there, particularly after his subsequent nine-year incarceration for armed robbery.
