Pavilion

Pavilion

The new pavilion building at the Banff Recreation Grounds provides accessible washrooms and a gathering space for local non-profits and Banff residents. The pavilion is open from 8 a.m. - 9 p.m. daily.

The skate-friendly flooring will make the pavilion a great place to lace up and warm up.

Rental Information

The pavilion has four bathrooms, a kitchenette, gathering room and showers. The exterior bathrooms may be accessed by anyone during operation hours; however, the kitchenette, showers and BBQ amenities are only available for rental from local non-profit organizations and sports teams. The pavilion is not available to rent for private functions, such as weddings or birthday parties, to ensure the space is available to recreation grounds users.

Sustainable and Accessible

The pavilion is the first building constructed under the Town’s new Municipal Sustainable Building Policy. The building was constructed to achieve Passive House Low Energy Building Certification for its innovative design, as well as Rick Hansen Accessibility Certification.

The pavilion’s innovative design includes:

  • Super-insulated foundations, walls , and roof
  • Mass timber structural framing including unique dowel-laminated timber walls
  • Triple and quadruple-paned windows
  • 100% electric heat pump heating and cooling system

Future plans include the installation of a solar array, pushing the building to near net-zero energy.
