Boosting youth employability. During #YouthMonth, The Shoprite Group of Companies called unemployed South Africans to join their training programmes. With 45.5% of youth facing unemployment, the retailer's Retail Readiness Programme (RRP) and YES programme offer critical skills training to youth, unlocking opportunities within the broader retail industry. Dr Leigh Adams (PhD), Head of Talent and Learning Solutions at the Shoprite Group, said, "The jobs created through YES and RRP make a big impact on the lives of youth and their families." Since 2018, Shoprite has created over 11,000 work opportunities for youth through the YES programme. YES is proud to partner with a retail giant like Shoprite, which has the same vision and objectives. Together, we're making a real impact. More here: https://bit.ly/3L8kIdV. #SayYES. YES: A path to success. YES Youth Alumnus Setshaba Phalane made a winning start to his Nedbank career. Joining Nedbank in 2022 as a service consultant after a year-long YES programme, his enterprising nature earned him the Top 3 CEO Apprentice of the Year award in 2023. “People in the community ask how I made it into the corporate world and now want to walk in my footsteps,” he said, recalling that he was unemployed for a year before getting the call that changed his life. Nedbank's Deb Fuller emphasised, “YES is crucial to Nedbank’s young talent strategy and tackling youth unemployment.” More here: https://bit.ly/3L98S3k. #SayYES. Join the movement. #Youth4Tourism Exhibition. Sanlam and YES are hosting an art exhibition at the Sanlam Art Lounge, showcasing artwork created by youth under the theme "Roots Unveiled." The Youth4Tourism (Y4T) initiative, launched by Sanlam and YES last year with support from partners like Hollard Insurance, TBCSA, Ford Motor Company, Pizza Hut, and Fairtree, is dedicated to helping young creatives access more opportunities within the tourism sector. The initiative calls on corporate SA to use local talent to create authentic South African content, boosting their business, SA's tourism and the economy. So far, 1,018 YES Youth have been placed in tourism and creative sector jobs nationwide. #SayYES. Join the movement. Brief young content creators to promote your tourist attractions and destinations. Youth Employment Service (YES) South Africa reposted this
I spoke today with Fifi Peters from CNBC Africa about the opportunity that may be created should the Government of National Unity ("GNU") be successfully negotiated and created over the next few days. Against the backdrop of another negative employment print, the critical question is if the GNU can pivot global and domestic investment sentiment decisively for the better, and significantly improve the conditions for economic growth and job creation. Can a stable GNU lead to a surge in investor confidence, economic growth and employment? I discuss these issues in the interview below, watch and enjoy! https://lnkd.in/dMDdssnv
