We are proud to have acted for the project consortium consisting of African Infrastructure Investment Managers (AIIM), through its renewable energy project development and delivery platform, African Clean Energy Developments (ACED), EIMS Africa and Reatile Renewables in the successful financial close of the 140 MW Khangela Emoyeni Wind Farm Project on 28 May 2024, with a total project cost of approximately ZAR 5 billion.   The energy generated by the Khangela Wind Farm will be purchased by offtaker Richards Bay Titanium, and used to power Rio Tinto's Richards Bay Minerals' operations in South Africa and in so doing will contribute toward decreasing RBM's carbon emissions by an estimated 20%.   The Khangela Wind Farm, located on the border of the Western Cape and Northern Cape provinces is expected to begin construction soon and is set to achieve commercial operation by the fourth quarter of 2026.   Our team comprised of Head of Infrastructure & Energy, Chris Moraitis, Directors,Astrid Berman, Jonathan Behr, and Clarisa Jade Laltha, Head of Real Estate, Johan Lubbe, Senior Associate, Kristen Elliott, Associates, Maseeha Chothia and Zoë Austen, and Candidate Attorney, Mishka Ramraj.   We are honoured to continue to contribute towards the solution for South Africa's clean energy needs, and we look forward to future projects in this space.
