#WebinarAlert O’Connor v LexisNexis (Pty) Ltd. The Labour Court in this judgment was confronted with issues concerning the withdrawal of an offer of employment by an employer. At its heart, the judgment deals with the legal position regarding criminal records and in this regard, the Labour Court found that an employer unfairly discriminated against its employee on an arbitrary ground of past criminal convictions within the meaning of section 6 of the Employment Equity Act. Join us tomorrow, 11 July 2024 as we will be discussing this judgment in depth and explore its potential implications on both employers and employees with criminal records. #LAProbono This year, in collaboration with Play Africa and the P.U.S.H organisation, we celebrated National Youth Day and Youth Month under the theme of empowerment and legal education. We dedicated our day to encourage and inspire the youth of Eldorado Park and Kliptown, in Soweto. In our interactive programme, we displayed the understanding of the judicial system and explored Children’s Rights through mock courts and presentations. The sense of camaraderie was palpable throughout the day. Thank you to everyone who helped make this a success. #ProBono #LawtonsAfrica #FromAfrica #ForAfrica
