The SADC Business Council Tourism Alliance is a non-profit, membership-based association that serves as a catalyst for the responsible development of travel and tourism to, from, and within the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region. Administered by the SADC Business Council, the Tourism Business Alliance seeks to unite apex private sector bodies across the region and other private and public sector tourism stakeholders and partners to boost the value, quality, and sustainable growth of travel and tourism to, from, and within SADC. What we do By uniting our private and public sector members, the Tourism Business Alliance facilitates impactful partnerships to influence in such areas as raising the visibility of the destination, identifying skills gaps hampering tourism private sector, facilitating events and information sharing, and promoting improved accessibility to facilitate inbound and intra-regional travel within the SADC. Our Vision We have a clear and inspiring vision for our future: to empower Southern Africa to become a leading tourism destination - one that enriches diverse communities and bolsters local prosperity through transformative, safe, and sustainable experiences. Our Mission We seek to unite the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region's tourism stakeholders for sustainable tourism promotion and protection. This mission sees us lobbying for supportive policies, stimulating investments, encouraging knowledge sharing, and boosting regional marketing. Our efforts are aimed at aiding economic growth, cultural preservation, and environmental conservation.

A new safari camp will open in Madagascar's Tsingy de Namoroka National Park in September. Namoroka Tsingy Camp, run by the Madagascar Classic Collection, will feature five private tents each with luxury furnishings and an outdoor living area. Guests will be able to immerse themselves in the park's diverse ecosystems, home to 10 lemur species, 21 bat species, and over 100 bird species. Activities on offer include birdwatching safaris, boat cruises, canoeing, and walking safaris. The camp will operate from mid-August to early November, with limited availability in 2024 and an expanded nine-tent offering in 2025. Zimbabwe, Mozambique and Zambia have signed a historic agreement to establish the ZIMOZA Transfrontier Conservation Area spanning 39,165 km2 across the three countries. This initiative aims to promote biodiversity conservation, sustainable resource management, and eco-tourism while fostering regional cooperation and economic development. The TFCA will be coordinated by Zimbabwe for the initial two-year period, followed by Mozambique and Zambia in rotation. Zambia remains open and welcoming to international visitors and there are no immediate changes to how they can pay for tourism services. The new policy aims to regulate domestic transactions in Kwacha but exempts the tourism sector. Non-resident foreigners can still pay in foreign currency, and tourism enterprises can quote and receive payments in US dollars. The policy is still in draft form and under consultation.
