BOUCHERIE is a traditional French brasserie and steakhouse, celebrating Joie de Vivre in the heart of West Village. The restaurant prepares a menu of French classics and timeless bistro favorites, in addition to the dry-aged steaks. An absinthe-inspired bar offers classic drinks, signature cocktails and craft beers. Located in the building that used to house the prominent Circle Repertory Theater, the 320-seat restaurant provides a diverse array of dining options from the spacious dining room, a seat at the butcher counter, the intimate second-floor gallery with private dining and outdoor cafe. Boucherie has adapted to the current environment to make the dining experience safe for guests and staff. We look forward to welcoming you! Ive been coming to Boucherie West Village since I was a teen exploring cuisine in New York. Recently, I came back for the first time in a few months to celebrate with a loved one.
The service was impeccable as always, and my food allergies were handled expertly. However, the food itself was lacking in exceptionality, and I found that maybe my palate had become more refined with age or maybe the quality of the food has gone down over time, but my steak was slightly chewy and the salad dressing was slightly bitter and astringent in a way that wasn't accented with any particularly interesting flavor.
Overall, the drinks delivered as they always have, the service was 5 stars, and the ambiance has always been my favorite part. But the food itself for the price is lackluster. Save your coins and stick to Boucherie for drinks and charcuterie.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mar 15, 2024
Thursday night dinner with cousin
Pros:
I really like the decor of this place. It reminds me of Paris. Especially now it's warm outside, they have opened up the doors and there's no boundary of inside or outside.
The staff was very friendly and attentive. constantly stopping by and checking in on us.
Cons:
I cannot recommend the coq au vin. For a french restaurant, it's a shame how they delivered the french classic. The sauce was ok, but the chicken was extremely DRY, felt like sauce and chicken were cooked separately by different people and thrown together when serving. They were not complementing each other, rather fighting against each other on the plate. This is NOT how coq au vin should be cooked.
The place is VERY LOUD. We sat at a table and had to shout to be heard. It's not fit for family/friends conversations. However, if you are on a date, this will drive you closer, cause you have to, to carry on a conversation.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Feb 18, 2024
I know Peter Luger, Keens, Gallaghers are all considered top NYC steakhouse but Boucherie needs to be in the discussion.
This location is extremely enchanting and a massive venue. Most of their locations has a massive amount of seating so it's not hard getting reservations. My friend and I went all in. We had the Tomhawk for two which i believe comes to 175. Started with the steak tartare, my first experience trying it. Omg it was creamy and not too aggressive. I throughly enjoyed it.
The steak came out and its show-stopping. Very dramatic. I guess there is no easy way to present a tomahawk steak. It was fantastic. Perfect sear, butchered very nicely and nice temperature. I felt like a true carnivore. Highly recommend this spot for groups or to impress a date. The staff was also very attentive and the manager even came by to say hi. Loved everything about the experience here.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1Business owner information

Impromptu dinner here recently on a warm spring night. Though not situated on a more intimate West Village side street, the outdoor dining area is designed in a way that lets you kind of forget you're sitting along a busy NYC street. Food was fabulous, the interior gives authentic French bistro, and the specialty cocktail menu has some nice options. Will definitely return.

The steak-frites was very good. Ordered one medium rare and was perfect.
First time, service was excellent with a gentleman taking care of everything.
I think his boss a was strategically sitting in front of him. I decided to go again.
Next visit, the boss was gone, and so was the professionalism. This time I was "greeted" (with quotation marks) by Marge Simpson's grumpy country cousin who never learned how to smile. Some people shouldn't be in the front.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Apr 12, 2024
Met up with friends from out of town. I only remembered to take a picture of dessert but everything we had was delicious. The ambiance was great. French bistro vibe and service was very attentive. I ordered the French Onion soup and Salad Niçoise. It was very good. My friends ordered the gazpacho and branzino. He enjoyed the gazpacho. I tested the Branzino- the skin was crispy and flesh was flaky and tender. My other frien had the filet mignon. It was 8oz and was very tender and flavorful. The dessert was the black sesame seed Brûlée. It was Devine!!! The aroma of sesame seed and flavor was very good. The custard was light and smooth. Delicious

What a pleasure it is to arrive at Boucherie and receive the level of hospitality that is part of its culture! Admittedly, I've been to every Boucherie in the City and they're consistent for exceptional service and delicious food. I recommend having a reservation, and if you're early: have a drink at the curvaceous bar!
Whether you're ordering meat or lighter fare, the portions are perfect, the quality is top notch and they space your meal so that your table is never crowded. I love lamb so during my most recent visit I opted for the Carre D'agneau and it didn't disappoint. However the steak frites or the filet mignon also fit the bill. And if you're truly ravenous opt for the combos listed near the end of the menu! The wine selection is larger than what's normally available in a restaurant of this size. There are by the glass and by the bottle options.
The decor is classic and simple with clean, white linens and comfortable seating with 3 different dining sections. The bread service is a delight with softened butter, and a crusty baguette that fills you just enough as you await your entree to be presented to you.
I wish bathrooms were on par with the showmanship of other Boucherie locations but alas nearly perfect isn't too shabby either.
Truly one of my favorites!Helpful 7Thanks 2Love this 9Oh no 0Business owner information

Hello Mardory,

See you soon! - Dec 24, 2023
Boucherie provides a great upscale dining experience that's perfect for birthdays, special occasions, or date nights! From the overall ambience to high quality menu options, I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to Boucherie as the final dinner for my NYC trip.
This location is in the West Village, which is really lively and bustling with energy. The patio provides a perfect separation from the street but even from the indoor tables you can still catch a glimpse of the city outside while maintaining that intimate setting. Our servers were really attentive and speedy throughout the night.
This restaurant is definitely leaning towards the pricier end, but I think all of it is justified! My table ordered the french onion soup and the steak frites. The french onion soup was the perfect hot temperature, and the soup had lots of flavor with just the right amount of cheese on top. This made for a really amazing appetizer! Onto the steak frites, I absolutely loved the quality and sizing of the meat - I usually get medium rare and my steak was super tender and flavorful. The herb butter and peppercorn sauce also made fantastic complements to the steak and I highly recommend getting a sauce. The fries were served in a good sized portion and perfectly cooked.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information
