Myra Monroe

Myra Monroe grew up in Gainesville and graduated from the University of Florida with a BS in Telecommunication, Broadcast News. In 2022, she received a Master of Theology from Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, CA.

Myra’s broadcast career started in public radio, and in 1995, she joined WCJB-TV20 to launch and anchor the morning news. It was also the year, she and Rob got married! A couple of years later, they moved to Tallahassee and Myra anchored the evening news at the ABC affiliate. The couple returned to Gainesville to raise their two children, and in 2007, Myra launched the 10 pm news on Gainesville’s CW. Myra left daily news in 2012 to focus on her Master’s degree and to serve as an Adjunct Professor at UF’s College of Journalism.

Myra is passionate about diversity and inclusion, as she is mother to a daughter who has Down syndrome and Autism. Myra has served as a licensed pastor in the local church for several years and blogs on her personal website, Anchored to Christ, where she writes frequently on disability and faith.

Myra is delighted to return to her hometown station, where her son (who grew up visiting her on the news set) is also working as an engineer. She is grateful to be sharing the noon hour with the viewers of North Central Florida.
