GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - Some kids in Alachua County aren’t putting their backpacks away this summer.

Eager to learn kids are currently attending the College for Kids Program, over at Santa Fe College.

Organizers say it’s a unique program, offering challenging, fun, hands-on learning experiences beyond the ordinary school environment.

Kids have the opportunity to learn while simulating a college experience.

“We offer different things you can’t get in a traditional classroom setting. We have wizardly world, we have hot shots basketball, we have different, we have Santa Fe staff helping with our basketball camp. We have so many different classes that teachers don’t get to teach in a regular class so the teachers are just as excited as the students,” Tanasha Reshard, the College for Kids coordinator shared.

Registration for next year’s program will open up in the first week of May.
