UPDATE: Huntsville police identify 18-year-old killed in single-vehicle wreck on Monte Sano

UPDATE:

Huntsville police have identified the 18-year-old who died following a single-vehicle wreck on Bankhead Parkway.

Police say Aiden James Higdon died as a result of his injuries sustained in the wreck.

The wreck happened Saturday afternoon about 1:40 p.m.

The driver was also transported to Huntsville Hospital and remains in serious but stable condition. The cause of the wreck remains under investigation.

Authorities say one person is dead following a single-vehicle wreck on Bankhead Parkway on Monte Sano. According to Don Webster with HEMSI, it happened just before 2 p.m. Saturday. 

Webster says the vehicle left the roadway, went down the embankment, then struck a tree. He says one person was also injured in the wreck. They're being transported to Huntsville Hospital Trauma Center and are reported to be in stable condition. 

HEMSI as well as Huntsville Fire and Rescue responded to the scene.
