Police saved a dog left tied to a tree in Madison County Saturday night.

Owens Cross Roads Police Officer Graves and his K-9 partner, Raven, were called out to the Huntsville Utilities power substation at Old Big Cove Road at Old Highway 431. Police say they found what appeared to be a six-month-old German Shepherd tethered to a tree.

The dog did not get sent to the pound but was instead taken in by a member of the community.

Owens Cross Roads Police says not to leave animals tied up and abandoned, but to instead, contact an animal rescue, shelter, or advertise them as free to a good home.
