Decatur Police: 2 accused of trying to use fake prescriptions for opioid pills

Two people were arrested after police say they tried to use fake prescriptions for opioid pills.

According to the Decatur Police Department, they received multiple reports during the month of May involving pharmacies having forged prescriptions passed for multiple quantities of opioid pills.

Police say Grace Kaylan Whitten was found to be the primary suspect during an investigation. Fourteen warrants were obtained for Whitten’s arrest.

On June 13, police located Whitten in the 1900 block of S. Brownstone Court SW.

Whitten was arrested for two counts of criminal possession of a forged instrument in the first degree, four counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance with the intent to distribute, two counts of attempt to commit a controlled substance crime, and six counts of criminal possession of a forged instrument in the fourth degree.

Police say Robert Andrew Brown was discovered to be assisting in the operation. Warrants were obtained for Brown’s arrest, and on Monday, he was located in the 2100 block of Westmead Drive SW.

Brown was placed under arrest and charged with two counts of possession of a forged instrument in the first degree, two counts of intent to distribute, and attempt to commit a controlled substance crime.

Whitten was booked into the Morgan County Jail on a $131,800 bond, and Brown was booked into the jail on an $85,000 bond.
