Crossville man arrested in Fort Payne for firing gun into occupied house

A Crossville man was arrested in Fort Payne for firing a gun into an occupied house.

According to the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office, deputies were dispatched to County Road 386 on Thursday at 4:15 p.m.

Their investigations unit and drug task force conducted a search warrant of the residence after one of the victims fled the scene.

During that search, deputies found a "sizeable amount" of methamphetamine, a handgun, and nine shell casings.

The investigations unit says they later identified Jose Guadalupe Perez as the shooter.

Perez was booked into the DeKalb County Detention Center and charged with five counts of discharging a firearm into a building and two counts of menacing.
