THE 10 CLOSEST Hotels to Las Ramblas, Barcelona

Hotels near Las Ramblas

This pedestrian-only street is a rite of passage for first-time travelers in Barcelona. Starting from Plaça de Catalunya, amble along the boulevard where you'll find food kiosks and spot famed attractions like the Gran Teatre del Liceu theater, the Palau de la Virreina Palace, and La Boquería market—the city’s famous marketplace. Entertainment is plenty too thanks to the human statues and caricature artists, amidst other wacky street performers. If you’re not planning to shop, enjoy a jug of sangria at any of the tapas bars and people-watch away. Besides joining city tours, Barcelona’s hop-on hop-off bus is another great way to get here. – Tripadvisor

    Afternoon Visit
Las Ramblas is a crowded pedestrian street where you will also find the Mercado de la Boquería and boarders the Gothic Quarter. Also, there are lots of market stalls, kiosks, pavement cafes, restaurants, and pickpockets as well. We were warned by our tour guide to secure our belongings and check zippers on backpacks. I think it is worth the time to come down to Las Ramblas to take a stroll, but only during the day time. Las Ramblas runs from the north end near Plaça de Catalunya and stretches approximately a kilometer long to the south end at the Columbus Monument, which is near the port. I didn’t venture further south, but from what I hear, the south end of Las Ramblas becomes a seedy area at night, best not to be in the area when night falls.

    Crowded Walkway in Barcelona
A pedestrian only street with lots of booths, shops, restaurants and La Boqueria Mercado. Street starts at Placa Catalunya and goes all the way to the water. Very many pedestrians as well as street performers as this street winds its way through the Gothic Quarter of Barcelona. I do not recommend eating in any restaurants on this street as they are overpriced and geared toward tourists, and many do not really offer authentic Spanish cuisine. The menus we looked at were mostly hamburgers and fries with drinks. Eat on streets off Las Ramblas which offer you more authentic tapas and meals and much more affordable options.

    Fun walk
Nice Pedestrian Walking Area Las Ramblas is a ~1 mile pedestrian walking boulevard in Barcelona. The boulevard runs north and south and cars have a one lane road each way. Las Ramblas runs from Christopher Columbus Memorial in the south to Placa de Catalunya in the north. Fun walking in the day and at night. lots of energy!!!

    Visit with caution
Not a must do. As I planned our trip to Barcelona people kept mentioning seeing Las Ramblas, however I also heard it was a tourist trap and a place for pick pockets. So during our trip we took a walk down the street just to see it, but we didn't shop there, we didn't eat there and we were very cautious with our belongings. Later in our trip we met a group from Australia and they told us one of the women had been pick pocketed on las ramblas and she had no idea it happened until later in the day when she went to pay for something and went to get her wallet, it was gone. So interesting to see but you need to be on high alert.

    Ok
I suppose it is a "must see" on a trip to Barcelona but like a lot of these places it seems to have lost a lot of its original charm. Lined with gift shops and restaurants, keep a tight hold of any valuables. The food market off it is well worth a visit, gets busy but can get food, tapas, drinks etc from there.

    Tree lined easy walk
Las Ramblas is one of the most famous streets in Barcelona. It is a tree lined pedestrian walk of 1.2km that is flanked by a road. There are "pop up" kiosks selling a range of products (hats, trinkets, etc) and many of the permanent restaurants/cafes have seating areas within the Ramblas. It's a relatively easy walk on a level service, but is always busy and has a reputation for being the pickpocket capital of the world, so need to be aware of your belongings at all times. There are a lot of high end shops and well known chain shops flanking the central walk way - so if you are into shopping, this is one place you wouldn't want to miss.

Keep your eyes open to stay safe
El Born is a maze of interesting lanes with character and well worth exploring BUT this morning two young men tailed us wherever we went. It didn’t matter which route we took or into a store, they waited a few metres away and then followed us. We are older and think they saw us as easy targets. Finally we crossed towards the ferry terminals and they stayed on the other side looking after us. So…watch yourselves, your backpacks etc and be aware.

    Past the Oldest Neighborhoods
A very long and wide street that runs down slope from the Placa de Cataluyna to the Port. On both sides are some of the oldest neighborhoods in the city and you will pass churches, theaters and a wonderful food market. Lots of places to eat and drink, plus souvenir shopping.

Sunday morning visit to Las Ramblas
My wife and I visited Las Ramblas on a Sunday morning tour during an excursion on a Viking cruise this past November. It was nearly deserted with just a handful of people there. It was quite pleasant compared to the hordes of people we encountered during our first trip to Barcelona about fifteen years ago.

Awesome barcelonic vibrancy 24x7. I recommend you stay right on this street. Start from the river end, walk thru many many food shacks, etc. ending in the shopping district on the other end.

One of Antoni Gaudi’s most famous works, the church is perhaps best known for still being under construction since 1882—with works funded purely by donations. Take a lift to the top of the towers for a panoramic view of the city and marvel at the ornate architecture. The nativity facade and crypt have also been awarded UNESCO World Heritage Status. Skip the line with a pre-booked tour with tower access, or combine your visit with another of Gaudi's work, Parc Guell. – Tripadvisor
