The hotel is overall one of the best examples of what you can expect from an IBIS hotel. It is clean, staff are very attentive, breakfast is quite varied (much more than a Holiday Inn), with a nice selection of freshly cut fruit, vegan options like soy yoghurt and milk, and then normal pastries, lots of bread types, Spanish tortilla, charcuterie, etc. I enjoyed everything about the hotel, but the hotel wouldn't be the same without Juan Carlos, who works hard running the front desk and the breakfast room at different times. He has gone, effortlessly, above and beyond with us and for sure deserves at the very least a nice plaque. Something to note is that even though the hotel looks very clean and tidy, the floor in our room was never fully swept or vacuumed. Even in the small space we had (the rooms are quite small but hey, it's expensive real estate after all), walking barefoot I quickly got my feet dirty every time. There was always also LOTS of dust under our beds, so there is room for improvement there. I would nonetheless go back as for the location alone, it's fantastic. Hopefully by then Juan Carlos will even get a well deserved raise! :)

Excellent value for money, with a privileged location in Barcelona, very close to the main tourist points of the city, accessible public transport, as well as many gastronomic options in the area, from simple cafeterias to higher level restaurants. Stayed here on a short three night stay in Barcelona, and found this hotel a reasonable place to base a trip to this city.
As a hotel it is functional for your tourist needs. Nice clean basic rooms with a decent bathroom and shower. A good view of the Casa De Les Punxes if you get a room at the front like we did, and has a few decent bars and restaurants around and beside it. Location wise, we thought it was pretty good as it was close to the Sagrada Familia which is about a 10 minute walk away. It was also easy to walk to Pg. De Garcia which is a straight road that takes you down to the Placa Catalunya and Las Rambles passing the Casa Mila on the way. About a 30 minute walk in total. However if walking is not your thing, there is a bus stop right outside the hotel with frequent buses. We did not opt for the breakfast as there are far better and cheaper options all around the hotel. The staff were reasonably pleasant, again just functional. A couple of them you could see were just going through the motions etc.
There was just a couple of minor niggles. My wife uses a wheelchair sometimes as she has MS, and access in and out of the hotel was via a small lift in reception which was tricky to use as it required you to wiggle the lift door to make sure it sat shut properly so it would work. Not a great problem admittedly, but probably needs looked at. The other issue was the price. I had booked through Booking.Com and had agreed a price of £252 for the three nights, but was charged £282 on arrival. No explanation offered, but i presumed it was because I had requested a disability access room after the booking was confirmed, so guessing I was charged extra for that room, which I think is pretty poor if it is the case.
All in all, We found it a decent base to do our exploring. If we do come back to Barcelona we would probably try and stay elsewhere closer to the centre, but would not hesitate to use it again either.

We never charge any extra for the disability access rooms. The extra you're talking about is the city tax, which is mandatory in Barcelona. The price is 3.03€ per person and per night. While you will read in most online reviews of this hotel that it was nice, there are many areas for major improvements that will make everyone's experience better.
On the positive side, the location was excellent where most of major attractions are within walking distance. The staff in the reception was very kind and helpful as well. Finally, while the room was adjacent to the main road, we couldn't hear a thing inside.
...but that's it!
The timing of our visit to Barcelona was very unfortunate as it was in the middle of a heatwave. However, you could expect that any hotel, no matter the category, could have a small fridge in the room so people can have cold water and at least have a working A/C.
Well, in our room we had no fridge and the A/C was broken half of the time. We talked to the staff, who informed us at in the first occasion the whole floor was without A/C. The second time, we didn't have electricity but apparently the tram construction outside the hotel was to blame. The third time, there was no excuse. The A/C was just not working in our room with 32C outside, making it impossible to sleep comfortably.
A strong recommendation would be to add a small wireless USB streamer to the TV to make it easier to use for the users of this decade. Streaming movies from a phone or a tablet is the way forward instead of connecting to the TV from a computer with an HDMI cable. It's an easy fix that improves the overall experience tremendously.
Some minor things to consider are to replace the furniture that were chipped or not fully operational (e.g., some chairs and the main table were missing wooden pieces, the shower door wasn't closing properly and the toilet's water tank was constantly running!).
Last, the breakfast was typical and gets boring after 2-3 days. There is no variety to keep it interesting, and sure it was "free", but I would recommend to explore some bakeries and cafes in the neighborhood.
Overall, I have stayed in Ibis hotels before but I will not do it anymore. This establishment spoiled the whole Ibis brand for me as it was such a bad experience. Therefore, I give 2 stars just for the staff in the reception and the hotel's location. Nothing else was up to par.

Dear DimChrisos, First of all, we thank you for taking time to talk about your stay in our hotel. We are glad to know you liked the location and our team. We will share your comments with them. Then, as you travelled in a lot of Ibis hotels, you know that in Spain it's not usual to have a fridge in the room. However, if you want to keep things in the fridge we offer the option to our guest to leave it in reception and we use a special fridge for our customers. Regarding the air conditionning issues, it seems that indeed, it was an unfortunare timing. The fisrt one was a tecnical problems which has been solved in less than 2h. Indeed we had an electricity shut down because of the tramway construction, unfortunately it's not under our power to solve it but it has been solved quickly as well. It's not usual, but it can happen. For the third time, we are sorry but you didn't tell us anything so we weren't aware about it. The same as all the other issues you had during your stay. Please, dont' hesitate to talk to us so we can find a quick solution and provide you a better service. About the breakfast, we have 5 sorts of bread, 4 of pastries/cakes, 6 types of fruit, 3 of cereals, 10 of toppings, 6 of delicatessen, 3 of cheese, 10 of teas, spanish omelet, scrambled eggs, sausage, etc, and we change every 2 or 3 days so there is no waste. We are sorry about this unfortunate timing in our hotel, we will be glad to welcome you again in our hotel and better serve you in a future! Best regards

Stayed for a 6-day vacation in Barcelona at the Ibis Styles Barcelona Centre.
Great location ; near all of the important tourist attractions. 2 Metro stations near the hotel, bus stop right in front of the hotel as well.
Supermercats readily available, as well as the ever-famous tapas bars.
Staff was great and helpful at all times, rooms reasonably sized, and piping hot water available at all times, as well as really cool A/C.
All in all, a great stay; definitely recommended; would return to it as well for my next time visiting Beautiful Barcelona!!!

This hotel was our first stop on our trip through Spain and Portugal. I can't say enough good things about this hotel. First, I thought the price of the room was very fair. Second, the location is outstanding. It is in a very safe neighborhood of Barcelona, and quite close to a Metro station (Verdaguer) which is on the same line as the Sants Train Station. Next, the breakfast was so tasty and filling each day. There were plenty of food and drink options to choose from. The dining room got a little crowded sometimes, but that was just a small detail. Finally, the room itself: Plenty of space in both the bedroom and bathroom area. I found it to be a quiet room, and the shower was hot and had good water pressure. Would I stay here again if I go to Barcelona? Absolutely, 100%. Highly recommended!

First time in Barcelona. I gave it 1 star less as i was not informed on checking in that the aircon is not working. The night staff on duty on the 19/6/24 (a pity i didn't get his name), was very helpful and offered a room swap for me given the room was boiling hot with a aircon that's not working or alternatively a mobile aircon and i settled for the latter and he filled it with water and ice and took it to my room. Same as Jose on the 20/6/24 night shift and Joan 20 & 21 day shift, were all pleasant and provided excellent customer service with a smile. Continental breakfast as ok to get the day started, nothing to write home about. Other than that, it was a lovely and clean small room with a comfy bed and a safe but no mini bar. Walking into the hotel, there's no ramp though if you got big luggage, baby stroller or knee challenges but there is a lift to the rooms. There's luggage store room, which was very handy. I was catching the evening train to Madrid and was able to leave the luggage all day until my departure time. Very handy location with heaps of restaurants, cafes, bars, convenient store, buses stop outside the hotel and metro to the right across the road less than a minute walk or to the left another metro line 8 minutes down the road and the Casa Bastllo just a walking distance. I had taken the metro from the airport on arrival. On departure, i took the metro to Barcelona Sants to catch the train to Madrid. Highly recommended hotel and wouldn't hesitate staying here again.

This hotel is walking distance from Sagrada Familia and is close proximity to the metro and buses. We got a taxi to the airport and it cost 35 Euros. We got the metro on the way in but it was a little bit of hassle as we had a lot of luggage. It was well situated to go and see all the main attractions and sites.
The staff are very friendly and helpful. We had some last minute changes to the date of our trip and the staff went out of their way to be helpful. They made us feel very welcome.
We had a family room which consists of 2 rooms in a hallway. There was plenty of room for the four of us. The facilities are basic but adequate for a city visit. The rooms were very clean, modern, comfortable with decent air conditioning. The breakfast was a good way to start the day with good coffee, juice, breads, cereal and cold meats.
We would highly recommend this hotel in Barcelona and would stay here again if we visited in the future.

Enjoyed a great stay here. The location is perfect, 10 minute walk to Sagrada Familia and most of the top attractions are within walking distance (max 30 mins). Jose at reception was so personable, professional and friendly. The room was very clean and the bed was super comfortable. Good choice for breakfast also. I would definitely recommend this hotel for its great location most of all.
