Good family-run hotel

Review of Primavera Hotel
Reviewed Aug 7, 2022
We booked two rooms for a two-week stay as a family of four (with two teens). Very happy with the hotel - the rooms were clean and came with either a balcony or small patio area. The facilites include a good-sized pool, table tennis, pool table, trampoline and bar near the pool and the clientele tended to be families or couples. The facilities may look a bit dated but it was great value for money - what more do you need? On some reviews, people complained that the mattresses were too hard, but my husband was very happy with his as he has a bad back and I had no issue with mine at all. Air conditioning doesn't come as standard and costs six euros a night per room - vital if you are here in July and August!
We chose the half-board option and again, this was extremely good value. The buffet breakfast was cereal, fresh fruit, yogurt, croissants, crusty bread, home-made cake and tea, coffee and juices. There was a wide choice of dinners on the half-board menu and the food was fresh and well-made. There was also a range of evening entertainment on certain nights, from a band doing covers, to traditional Greek dancing, if that floats your boat.
The beach is just down the road and Dasia is well-connected to other parts of the island, with regular buses outside the hotel to Corfu town (around 30 minutes) and the popular resort of Ipsos - around 10 minutes away. Outside reception are details of day trips including Paxos and the Blue Caves (well worth doing) and there are also lots of bars, tavernas and supermarkets in Dassia.
Overall, we were very happy with our stay and would recommend the hotel if you are looking for a break on a budget - it ticked all the boxes.

The hotel was very clean and the staff are very friendly, attentive and nothing was too much trouble. It was perfect for what we wanted during our visit to Corfu.
We opted for the Half Board and found that the food was very good. The breakfast was a continental style with ample choice for what we needed. There was no cooked option but then we didn't feel the need for a cooked breakfast. The evening meal was served in the Poolside Bar every evening and provided a good choice of three courses of which we only opted for two.
The rooms are very simple but provided us with a comfortable stay. There is a fridge in the room for keeping water and other drinks cool. There is an air conditioning unit in the room which costs extra as does the safe if you need to keep valuables safe. Reception would be able to organise these extra charges if you wish to use them.
The only downside was the noise from the busy road that was constant, even during the night, but we got used to it. The other option would be to close the patio door to reduce the road noise which would mean the room getting too hot and then the air conditioning unit would need to be turned on which would result in a constant noise as well.
The bus stops, both directions, are right outside the hotel and the bus service was perfect for getting into Corfu town or Ipsos and other places.
Two beaches are within a few minutes walk of the hotel, one was a small pebbly beach which wasn't overcrowded and the other was a huge sandy beach which had loads of sun-loungers and parasols and was much busier than the wee pebbly beach which we frequented everyday.
All in all, a nice wee hotel.

Its a two star hotel which is family run. All the staff were friendly and helpful and the cleanliness was excellent. Lovely pool which was cleaned daily, and in fact they changed the water twice during our stay.
With a two star you get what you pay for, so dont expect five star facilities. My only criticism was that the beds were rather hard and some of the room furniture was a little dated, but then who stays in their room all day - its just somewhere to sleep and shower.
The snack bar/restaurant was good but some items a little overpriced. They did lay on evening entertainment to try to keep the punters in the hotel so at least they do make the effort. We sometimes just watched from our balcony which I suppose was not very inclusive!!
I would recommend this hotel for couples or families and it makes a good base for any travelling you want to do around the island.
We had an excellent 10 days and would like to thank all the staff at the hotel for making our stay so memorable.

Room tip: We were in room 201 on the first floor which had a balcony. It overlooked the pool and snack bar area.

Overall I had a lovely holiday but not very restful. Extremely noisy neighbours from all directions, doors slamming, thin walls, no one seems to consider being quiet in the corridors in the early hours of the morning. Maybe the staff could try to encourage quiet zones.
Bed was rock hard, like sleeping on the floor. I would have been better on a sun lounger. I took my own pillow from home and during the first clean of the room the housekeepers took it in error and I never saw it again.
Pool is nice, good size for keeping an eye on kids. Nice pool bar and facilities etc.
Staff ok but not overly smiley and friendly, the waiter in the evenings was lovely.
Nice that they put on entertainment even though it was a small crowd.
I found the hotel clean and had really enjoyable day times by the pool but the noise at night was a real let down. Came home shattered! Wish I’d asked for a quieter room.
Location good for us, few nice restaurants nearby but nothing special. Frequent buses to venture a bit further if you fancy

Room tip: Ask for a quiet one

Stayed here at beginning of July for 2 weeks, hotel looked ok from the outside nice gardens with decent sized pool. The girl on reception wasn't the friendliest, no lift to the upper rooms. Rooms quite dated couldn't find the wardrobe thought there was a broom cupboard but no it was the wsrdrobe, take your own coat hangers there were 4 in the miniature cupboard. The bathrooms are really modern though you don't have a lot of space in the shower cubicle. Towel rails fell off on the first day , reported it to girl on reception in first day never got sorted husband tried to fix it. The room was near the road and it was very very noisy, like being in the M62 the traffic doesn't stop even through the night. Breakfast was included it was basic continental not anything to write home about. No staff wore name badges the owner and his wife seemed quite friendly and the young guy at the pool bar, but staff didn't seem very happy. The young Batman was off the bat one lunchtime and we ordered cheeseburger and chips,1 hour 15 mins later still hadn't arrived asked about it and the lady said sorry, came out with it minutes later and it was stone cold, obviously been sat on the side, she took it back and returned it 1 min later after it was warned up in the microwave 😵 overall not a fantastic experience, definitely won't return, sorry. Pool was nice though lots of broken/damaged sunbeds.

Room tip: Try another hotel

First of all, not only is this hotel brilliant but it is also one of the cleanest I’ve ever stayed in.

We’ve spent thousands on hotels over the years and thought we’d go back to basics here. For what we paid it was an absolute bargain.

Pro’s

Pool spotless and had a ‘Wall E’ type robot cleaner every night to make sure it was pristine.

Spacious communal areas for a small hotel.

Snack bar by pool - food hot and tasty.

Pool bar the cocktails are amazing – particularly the frozen ouzo strawberry daquiris and mango margaritas.

Music on all day – not too loud and noisy just very chilled.

Seems to attract a nice clientele. No shouting or altercations while we were there.

Staff all really approachable and helpful. Maids always cleaning. All staff work very hard, visible at all times and there to address any concerns.

Rooms very clean. Balcony area spacious.

Resort not too far for airport transfers. This hotel is pretty much on the outskirts of Dassia but not too far to walk to supermarkets, bars etc.

Night time entertainment good. We enjoyed the Greek dancers and there was an excellent singing duo on one night too.

Good selection of restaurants and bars around.

Cons (Not many!!)

Mattress too hard for my liking so told reception and this was immediately resolved.

Half Board option – only used twice out of the week. Food still tasty but confusion both times over bringing food as starters/mains or leaving one person without as the other gets all their food together and the one without gets theirs as the one with is finishing theirs. Wasn’t a huge deal to be honest and poor Stephano the waiter tried his best. His service and attitude was impeccable with the many drinks he served us.

Resort run down. You can see that there are many bars and restaurants which existed during it’s heyday now shut up and left to wreck and ruin. We chose Dassia as I primarily went to Corfu to be close to the port to visit Paxos (which is an absolute treat!).

If you are wanting a good holiday at a very reasonable price then look no further.

Thank you to all the staff for a very enjoyable week.
