Review of Dreams Las Mareas Costa Rica

The resort itself is beautiful. The layout made it seem like you had your own space no matter where you were if you wanted it, or you were in the middle of the party if you preferred that. The rooms were perfect. Several people in our group were commenting on how comfortable the bed was. The entertainment staff, especially Terry and Antonio were the absolute best. They definitely added to our experience. The food and beverages were plentiful and amazing. The bartenders were outstanding, especially Alfonso and Claudia. Not only could they pour excellent drinks they made the experience personal. The spa was absolutely amazing as well. The only negative was trying to get reservations for dinner. That was a bit of a nightmare. Fortunately, the World Cafe always had seats and the variety of food there was incredible.

This hotel is horrendous. The service was unacceptable. We checked out early and Alex the hotel manager did not refund our room. We are escalating this dispute with our credit card company.

We stayed here in February 2024 and opted for the preferred package. I was very pleased with the service and we all enjoyed the preferred lounge. Popping in for an espresso or quality cocktail throughout the day and evening. The snacks were excellent and changed regularly.
Our room was on the end and quite close to the preferred club which was convenient for walking but awkward when we thought of using the soaker tub on the balcony. We did not use it but my daughter loved hers as they were on a higher floor and away from the foot traffic.
The food was good, loved the restaurants and ate on the patio most mornings. Pool chairs were not always easy to get. People grabbing chairs and not showing up most of the day was usually the reason. Kids took lots of pool pictures and had a blast. The pool bar service was very good and we enjoyed our occasional visit by the wildlife.

Expected more here. Rooms ok, ours was ground floor but smelled extremely musty. Resort needs updates/maintenance here and there. Staff was friendly and helpful. Food was edible, nothing special, but there were plenty of choices in the buffet restaurant. We were unable to reserve for our family to eat together; told no reservations could be made.
