Older and in poor repair

Reviewed Oct 16, 2022
We were comfortable in our room but do not recommend staying here. The place needs a lot of TLC. It’s a strip motel on the highway, so there’s road noise. The door to the room had big gaps around it. It would’ve been freezing in colder weather. The dining room was closed due to inability to hire staff.

Five family members attending a funeral took three rooms facing the water on the Strait side of the highway. A staff member waited for our arrival by car from Halifax in a rainstorm for two extra hours. And called us enroute to check on our progress. All of this was done with kindness and patience. The rooms are a bit dated but clean. We were on the end of the building and that allowed for quiet. Sadly covid precautions had meant the pool was closed. There is a restaurant onsite and again it is dated not having changed in years but the staff are courteous and usually prompt. The food portions are generous. We had one unfortunate experience in the restaurant that marred out time where we waited for over forty minutes for a simple meal and finally had to speak to the manager to have it brought to us. Amends was a slice of carrot cake that appeased my husband but not me to any extent. Overall we were quite satisfied with our stay.

Stayed there 3 nights (July 5th - 8th, 2021). In my opinion, it's not a motel worth the $99 per night I paid. There was absolutely no water pressure (room 323) for showering, didn't matter what time of day we showered. We were on vacation to cycle the Celtic Shores Coastal Trail. So we showered after our bike rides at different times and never had water pressure. The bed had a low spot in the middle, so if you rolled over you sunk in the middle. They could use new mattresses. Pretty noisy, could hear other people. The bathroom fan works when you turn the light on and is very loud. One night someone was smoking the Canadian Cologne (Marijuana) and while using the washroom the fan sucked in the smell from whoever was smoking. We had to keep the bathroom door closed after that as the odor was quite strong. The check in process was easy but finding the office was difficult as there are two parts to this motel, two buildings on different sides of highway. Stopped on the waterside first, went in the restaurant and was directed to the other side, then at the office clerk told me my room was on the other side. Crossed the highway twice to get to the room. As for the restaurant, food was good, breakfast not expensive. Service was slow for supper as only 1 server and 1 cook. Restaurant was busy for 6:30pm, didn't get our meal until 7:30pm. Staff was very friendly. IMO it's an average to below average motel. Good for them as they had lots of construction workers staying there, so kept them busy during covid.

Took a road trip to spend time with my grand nieces. The room was spacious enough that we were able to do crafts and play board games. It was advertised that it had a DVD player but that was not there...watched TV instead. Had a fridge which was great for snacks. One of my grand nieces is not n a wheelchair and we were able to maneuver it great in the room...the door to the bathroom is too small but we managed ok. The beds were very comfortable for some tired folk at the right time

The rooms are modest but clean. The staff are friendly and the breakfast specials are attractively priced. The bed needs to be replaced. It’s worn and badly sways to the middle. Enough that we would not return in spite of the positives.

My girlfriend and I recently stayed at the Inn and experienced water problems. We had no hot water in our first room, however the staff were very accommodating and gave us a new room. Overall a dated property but the friendly staff more than made up for this.
