Review of Fuego Lodge

Best garden I’ve ever been. Friendly staff, very oriented service. It’s central located, delicious breakfast and good vibe.
We’ve been with friends and it’s really nice to hang out on the pool and enjoy the nature that surround the Area. Thank you!!

Room Tip: Enjoy the vibe of one of the last hotels with tico identity, not cold minimalism and unnecessary...

Set in beautiful gardens up a side road (with parking), this lodge is brilliantly located (if you have a car) to explore the beaches and villages of the southern Nicoya area. Our room was right opposite the warm pool, with loungers and tables and chairs. There was plenty of storage space for clothes, a fridge, kettle and coffee maker. The bed and pillows were comfortable and we slept well. Yes, there is a new apartment being built over the road, but the work is being done during the day and mostly by hand (it’s not like a massive construction site on the Costa del Sol!) and it did not bother us at all. The room stayed cool (with the A/C) and almost completely bug free (the door fitted really well). We enjoyed watching squirrels and humming birds just outside our room (No. 5 a quadruple room with two double beds). The breakfast choices were all delicious (we tried them all!) and the staff were friendly and helpful. Special thanks go to Ania, who gave excellent advice about our journeys to and from the lodge and who recommended some fantastic restaurants. The yoga deck was an added bonus, with daily classes; Carlotta’s flow in particular, was Devine.

Room tip: Yoga classes are $12 at 8.30am daily.

Great location a few minutes walk from beach, restaurants and shops
Large and comfortable rooms
Nice and clean pool
Friendly staff
… however big construction sites all around this hotel - so very noisy from early morning t’ill late pm including weekend which spoilt the normally tranquil environment

Hello Ray, thank you for your kind words about our staff!
We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused by the noise from nearby construction. While we strive to maintain a peaceful environment for our guests, some factors, like external construction projects, are unfortunately beyond our control. The good news is that it has become much quieter, and it will continue to improve.

I spent a wonderful week here. The room and grounds were in excellent condition. The staff was kind and helpful. The location was perfect, quiet and yet with easy access to everything in Santa Teresa. I look forward to staying here again on my next visit.

I booked two nights and ended up staying a week and a half. Felt so comfortable and welcome by the amazing staff and the serene atmosphere , just a five minutes walk from the rather noisy and dusty northern center of Santa Teresa. The hotel is centered around a lovely pool, where guests can make friends with other guests, surrounded by beautiful lush tropical gardens with squirrels, plenty of birds, and howler monkeys hanging in the trees high above. Rooms are clean and cool with A/C and most also have ceiling fans. The decor and amenities vary between the different room types. I recommend the rooms with 2 queen beds by the pool, they are the most modern. Breakfast is good, although not very big (which is what I prefer) and you can chose from about 7 different choices ranging from typical tico, or omletts , pancakes, fruit & yogurt to my favorite french toasts. Beach access is about a 10 mins walk, at the Selina North, with incredible very powerful surf (in season). Close by good restaurants include Eat Street, Somos Cafe further north, the local Pura Vida soda for typical food. Super Ronny#2 for groceries is very close and is open till late.
My favorite think about the hotel is the friendly staff, who are happily to assist with anything. They are all lovely especially Ampi and Thomas at the front desk and the manager Barbara.
Will definitely be back :)

Room tip: The rooms by the pool are best

Beautiful, relaxing experience. Pool is super clean, perfect for afternoon swim to cool off and evening dip after dinner. Lodge is surrounded by nature. Loved waking up to birds. Squirrels, butterflies and monkeys to enjoy. Wonderful breakfast options and staff are exceptional. Location is ideal. By staying at Fuego we could escape from the busy and stressful conditions of walking on the main road. We were surprised by all the ATVs, motorcycles, big trucks and cars in this little town. Fuego is at the paved end so we never had to deal with the dust and rutted road.
Many very good restaurants nearby and easy walk to beautiful beach. Perfect paradise.
