Perfect for a honeymoon - a magical experience

Reviewed 2 weeks ago
My wife and I decided to spend our honeymoon here.

The experience was top-notch. Everyone was friendly; the guest-relations staff, maintenance, hospitality, cleaners, management, guests - everyone. Our room was beautifully renovated, while still paying homage to the past. We had a beautiful view of the Bay; I would argue the best in all of Bar Harbor. New flat screen TVs, a gas fire place, and table and chairs on the balcony were a nice touch. Coffee is available in the room and also freshly brewed in the lobby. The indoor and outdoor pools are clean and the water temperature was perfect. Don't forget to visit the Great Room for a cocktail and listen to the in-house piano player, Bill; he was able to play all of our requests from memory.

Breakfast is available at the nearby Looking Glass restaurant, which had wonderful food and even better service. The view was unbeatable and I highly recommend sitting on the patio while dining.

Downtown Bar Harbor is an approximate 20 minute walk from the hotel (about 1 mile). Sidewalks and crosswalks are available and the walk is scenic and safe.

We truly enjoyed the hospitality and as complete surprise, on our departure, we received numerous complimentary honeymoon gifts and a personalized hand-written card. Thank you so much - the experience was truly magical and what a joy it was to stay at the Bluenose

I stayed in room 236. This place was amazing. Honestly, I could not have made a better reservation. It revived me to see that the old-world classic charm of yesteryear is still alive and well. The place must be even more beautiful come wintertime. The pianist was amazing, I was amazed by the amount of spacious comfort the room had, my balcony view was out of this world. The room was comfortable beyond means, and there wasn't a thing out of place. When you pay for luxury, you get it here. I loved the key and the doorbell to the room, as well as the bathrobe in the wardrobe and other things you miss out on in the chain hotel setting, which I am glad to see has not made that much inroads into Bar Harbor. Overall, I would return.

At the restaurant there was only one hiccup, but that is independent of my hotel stay. Lastly, it truly felt like being in a dream to stay at this hotel.
I am very happy overall with my stay and do not hesitate to give the Bluenose Inn my highest recommendation.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us and your fellow travelers. I'm happy to know you enjoyed your time here and would recommend our property to others. Bill Trowell, our pianist, is amazingly talented - we're thrilled that you got a chance to enjoy listening to him in the Great Room along with many of our other on-site amenities. We hope to welcome you back to The Bluenose Inn should you future travels lead you back to Bar Harbor.

There are a lot of great things about this hotel. First of all every room has a great view. The rooms are very nice. Extremely clean and each room has a fireplace I believe. I actually use a fireplace at night on several nights. It's a very cozy hotel in the staff is extremely friendly. It's a short walk into town so it's in a good location as well. Whenever I was out walking at night I always felt like I was coming home a little bit when I got back to the hotel. I would highly recommend it. I don't think anyone would really be disappointed unless you're really looking for a five star full service kind of resort hotel.

We arrived very late Mon nite and upon waking, we found that the hotel restaurant was inexplicably closed on a Tuesday! We travel several times a year and have never encountered this before. Now we had to get in the car and wander around a location we have never visited in search of food. I don't know what the manager is thinking.
Our room was on the 4th floor with a King bed and a fireplace and was fantastic. The staff we encountered were also top notch (Except the bartender who was apparently born without a personality)
Bill was admittedly great on the piano...but the same entertainment every nite?😴
Knowing what we know now, we are likely to return.

Room tip: The restaurant is closed on a Tuesday. Breakfast and Lunch only when open. The exact same entertainment every single evening. Fantastic views from the 4th floor (Top)

Thank you for your review and for sharing your beautiful photos. We do close our on-site restaurant one day a week to allow for a day off for our hard working staff. I apologize you weren't made aware of that in advance but our front desk is always happy to provide recommendations and directions whenever needed. We're happy to know that you enjoyed several aspects of your stay with us and would return if your future travels ever bring you back to Bar Harbor.

King Suite - Mizzentop 4th Floor (room 403 I think).
A very comfortable double room suite with plenty of space. The balcony gave us a superb view accross the Harbor and Islands.
We were enjoying a driving holiday North along the coast from New York to Bar Harbor to see the autumnal colours in New England. The indoor pool and steam room was very relaxing after a day walking in the park.
The delightful, friendly and helpfull staff made our stay thoroughly enjoyable. Particularly the Reception staff who were welcoming and knowledgable. Particularly one lady who, aware I'd just had a knee replacement, stopped and picked us up as we walked back from Bar Harbor after a splendid dinner at the Veranda at Balance Rock in the town. Priceless customer care.
Bill trowell was the icing on the cake. His piano playing and contact with the people in the Great Room were exceptionaly skilled. He played more than one piece as a welcome for my wife and I who were on holiday from England.
Thankyou Bluenose Inn. If we return to New England we will stay again.
Martin and Jenny

Room tip: The pianist most evenings in the Great Room is a relaxing way to finish your day.

We stayed 4 nights in October. I would stay here again. The beds are comfortable, the shower was wonderful. We splurged for the 4th floor King suite. The place was extremely clean - there are crystal like light fixtures in the hallways and bathroom - and they were so clean. The front desk staff was always friendly and helpful during our stay. The hotel has a really great gift shop so beware! The view was amazing - but the only downside is the street below the balcony - there is traffic noise when outside but we couldn't hear it inside the room.
