Good experience but overpriced

Reviewed Jul 17, 2022
We stayed for 3 nights and paid well over $1,000 to stay here. We picked it as a budget accommodation option but once we arrived we were surprised at the price of the mandatory meal plan and how expensive the boat was from the jetty to the island (which is the only way of getting there) and there was no transport provided between the jetty and Nadi. Nothing was included at this place, had to pay for water and had to pay wifi which was unlike most of the other island resorts.
The food was pretty basic, breakfast was particularly poor, no eggs or meat available at the buffet. Never any dessert or anything after dinner which you would kind of expect when you pay a fairly high daily rate for food.
The worst part was definitely the flies, they were everywhere, on the beach, in the accommodation, around the food.
Because it was at the mouth of a river the water was often quite churned up and smelly, it wasn’t great if you were looking to snorkel.
The staff were amazing, they did great performances, including dances and music and fire shows which were just amazing. They did traditional kava ceremonies which were great to. Julien in particular was an amazing member of staff!
We did enjoy ourselves but felt we paid a lot of money for a below average resort.

I had doubts when we arrived at night when the 30 year old reception and eating area looked like it needs a massive updating. The pool looked dodgy. They did have 2 year old clean rooms that is just 5 steps away from the beach with a sunset view however, no fridge, cuttlery, kettle and TV. The room has a huge clean front deck as well. This was our second booking after the 5 star Marriot but I must say this was the highlight of our first holiday in Fiji. We had the most relaxing time especially spending a wonderful experience watching the sunset with my wife. We were immersed in culture and the staff were lovely except the lunch lady, she didn't look happy. Shout out to Tiks for showing up with a fresh coconut whilst I was relaxing on th deck. If you want to experience Fijian culture and the most relaxing time, Likuri is a good option!

Likuri Island is indeed beautiful and the staff are very friendly and welcoming , however it did not deliver what was promised on the website.
Daily house keeping did not occur , we had our room tidied once in our 5 day stay and this was after asking at reception three times in a day.
Complimentary water is not given out you have to ask for it and again it took asking for it 3 x in one day to get it. they give it to you at night so by then you have given up and bought some.
Likuri Island has a lot of day visitors as is close to the mainland and we did feel that we were not treated as well as the day trippers or overnighters . I bet there bures were clean and comfortable.
The incessant loud music also spoils the peaceful setting though to the managers credit this did get turned down after asking twice and sending an email.
I also came away with a nasty case of Fiji belly as did another couple that was staying at the same time .

Absolutely amazing!! We stayed at Likuri Island for 5 nights with 4 adults and 7 kids under 11. There were a range of organised activities to do if we pleased, as well lots of relaxation time. The kids had a ball exploring the beach, playing with hermit crabs, swimming, and us adults were able to have a relaxing holiday. The staff were so lovely and we were treated as family. We were sad to leave as we were made to feel so welcome. We loved staying on Likuri Island because we were able to experience the true culture of Fiji, unlike the busy tourist areas on the mainland. I can't speak highly enough of this beautiful resort and its staff. We will definitely be returning in the near future.
Thank you to Likuri Island staff for this amazing getaway! Vinaka!

Thank you again to the amazing staff at Likuri Island Resort for welcoming us yet again with your beautiful Bula smiles.
We keep coming back to Likuri Island Resort because of the staff. Year after year we are greeted and treated as family and always made to feel so very special.
From the minute we saw you all at the dock we knew we were back at our Fijian home. Those beautiful smiles always melt my heart.
On arrival we were greeted by the staff with music and joy. At dinner the first night a welcome home cake and even more joyful singing.
We booked an Island bure because we love that 'real' island living style, feeling like a more authentic Fijian experience . We have stayed in these bures before and love them. The outdoor bathroom has always been one of our favourite features and now they have hot showers even better.
On arrival we we're upgraded to a beachfront bure and WOW!! The new beach front bures are amazing. Just a few steps to the beach and beautiful views over the ocean, magic. The outdoor bathroom is more spacious than the island and garden bures but still has the charms of the smaller bures.
As always the food was amazing. As there were only 4 to 6 guests staying on the island while we were there we had a choice of beautiful plated meals, each one delicious. When we were joined by visitors for the shows we enjoyed the amazing lovo buffet dinners. Our breakfast and lunches were always great too.
As house guests we were able to see each show the island put on. Some days we had day trippers and others combo lunch and dinner visitors to share the island and its beauty. Most importantly they were there to share the beautiful dances and fire dance shows that continue to blow our minds every single time!!
The dancers at Likuri Island Resort are undoubtedly the best in the world!! The joy they bring to the dances radiates into the audience and makes us feel a part of the dance. The ladies are so very beautiful and forget twerking, shaking those leaves is a sight that will mesmerise everyone. The men are also something else, their dancing is full of energy and excitement, the machete dancing makes the audience hold their breath and the 'don't try this at home' always makes me giggle.
The show builds up to spectacular fire dancing by both the men and women that is truly amazing and the farewell dance on the beach and it's showers of embers is a sight you will never forget.
We love Likuri Island Resort and we keep coming back because it is a small island that gives us the chance to do nothing and be left in peace and quiet on the deck of our room or swinging in a hammock with the cool ocean breeze lulling you to sleep or if you wish to join in activities you can always do that too. Kayaking, coconut tree climbing, weaving baskets and hats, a guided walk around the island and its medicinal plants, sunset cruises and dancing, snorkelling on the reef, crab racing, fish drive and beach bonfires are all available and make your holiday at Likuri Island Resort one you will always remember.
The island is small and its location means there is no electricity there is a generator runs to provide the energy needed to run the Resort. The generator doesn't run 24 hours a day but you will be asleep when it isn't running so you should not be affected by it. The air-conditioning will turn off late at night but again, you will most likely be sleeping and not even notice.
The meal plan is compulsory and delicious. You don't need to worry about being hungry during the day because you will eat so much of the delicious food at meal times and perhaps won't fit into your clothes anymore.
There is one bar on the island and the drinks are always delicious with prices comparable to other resorts.
For us it's our home away from home. A place we know we will always be well looked after and a place to look forward to visiting again and again.
The staff are more like family to us and we love each and every one of them. Thank you Likuri Island Resort and Robinson Crusoe Island for being 'Our island'

Well we just had another great stay at Likuri Island. This time we stayed in the new beachfront villas. The traditional bures are still there and have also had some renovations.
Beachfront villas - really lovely with a great view over the ocean. These are also air conditioned which is a blessing on those hot nights. Outdoor covered shower which was amazing. Nice verandah on the front and a grassed area if you want some quiet time away from everything.
Food - Had some really delicious meals with options at meal times
Bar - reasonable prices for an island
Enterntainment - If you stay you get to see all the famous fire shows and traditional polenesian dancing at no cost. Best show I have seen in Fiji. They have day night cruises to the island (Robinson Crusie Island tours) so you get visitors to the island. You can join in all the activities which are fun amd also cultural like basket weaving, cocunut husking, cava ceremony
Staff - The best part of the island in my opinion. We were treated like family.
All in all we had a fabulous time and cannot wait to go back. Thanks Likuri family

Room tip: beachfront villas - away from everything
