The resort is located on the beautiful 109-acre private Yanuca Island with its pure white sandy beach and crystal clear, coral rich seas of the exotic Fiji Islands. Only 45 minutes from Nadi International Airport, the island is connected from the mainland by a causeway. A traditional Fijian village is the inspiration behind the layout of the 443-room resort with every guest room, suite and bure featuring a private balcony with spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean or the resort’s lagoon. New to the Resort is the Reef Wing which focuses on the adults-only experience, full of options for private dinners, extravagant spa treatments for two, and complimentary cocktails and canapés by the pool at sunset. Unlimited wired broadband Internet access is complimentary in all rooms. A wide range of authentic dining options are available with five world-class restaurants and two lively bars, each bringing fresh, local flavours with a Fijian flair. Cultural shows highlight Fijian lovo, meke and firewalking rituals, and contemporary Fijian dance. The Resort offers a range of activities, including water sports, scuba diving and golf, and a popular Kid's Club. Chi the Spa is a secluded spa village set away from the main resort, and provides the privacy and luxury of the largest Spa villas in Fiji. Four Oceanview and two Rainforest treatment villas feature relaxation areas overlooking either the Pacific Ocean or an exotic rainforest, with private garden patios, outdoor bath tubs, herbal steam room and outdoor showers. Overnight spa journeys are available.

Shangri-La Yanuca Island in Fiji is lauded for its stunning, family-friendly location and an extensive array of amenities that cater to both children and adults. However, the hotel's rooms are often described as dated and sometimes not up to cleanliness standards, with occasional maintenance needs and service issues. While the staff's friendliness stands out, inconsistent service and high prices have led some guests to question the value for money. Despite these concerns, the resort's cleanliness and comfortable atmosphere are noted positively.

This resort has to be the best on the main island in terms of beautiful beach (not tidal) and facilities - yes it’s an old resort and some of the accommodation is in need of a refurbishment (lagoon rooms) but the overall experience is amazing - restaurants are all great (Takulai is sooo goood!) the staff were so lovely - Our 4th trip there and no doubt will be back again :) Don’t be put off by negative reviews.. if your wanting 5 star go to a Denerau Resort- they are top notch - however you won’t have the beautiful beach.

I have stayed here so many times that I have lost count. In recent years I have been to more upmarket resorts in Fiji and Hawaii and couldn't wait to get back to "the Fijian". I haven't found anywhere else with such a blend of features that make for a good holiday. Location, food (from good to outstanding), staff, beach, golf, gym, facilities etc. But its not perfect.
What's not so good?
1.Behaviour of some of the other guests ( see some of the reviews below from some of these pains and you might get my drift).People just aren't as friendly as they used to be.(BTW some of these clowns complain that it isn't up to Shangri La standards yet it is much cheaper than for example the Sydney Shangri La. Further some of the complained about old and tired rooms I have witnessed being rebuilt myself over just the last few years).
2.There should be a daily activities board in a resort of this size.(I asked what the open air movie was 10 minutes before it started and nobody knew)
3.There have been many experienced staff lost over the past year due to retirements etc. and the replacements are really not up to speed yet. Management shouldn't let experienced staff leave without passing on their skills (including people skills). The best staff are the older staff I'm afraid.
4.In a country with such a rich Indian culture it is now almost impossible to find Indian food here (except as part of the so called international buffet), not even in the Asian restaurant - ridiculous.
5.Who is the Einstein who thinks its a good idea to blast disco music over the swimming pool when people are trying to relax? This happened for a couple of days. There also needs to be rules regarding personal bluetooth speakers as more and more people dont respect others and have their own little discos blaring away around the beach and pool.
6.There is confusion about permissable smoking areas. Our supposed non smoking room was filled with smoke from somebody on the next balcony. Also a chain smoker near me was stubbing out multiple stubs in the beach sand and leaving them there.
7.I understand "Fijian time" but couldn't understand why the beach bar could cook my meal and get it to the table quicker than they could bring me one beer.
8.There still are not enough lounges in the shade available for peak times. They need to establish a storeroom somewhere and if the hotel is heavily booked the numbers of chairs need a top up (and some extra umbrellas wouldn't hurt
9.Please tell me why in the tropics we have to sleep under a doona/duvet when all we need is a sheet? It makes Air Con at night essential which is just silly. It must be some sort of an International Shangri La rule.
10. And finally the WiFi has been improved but this is actually bad- because now all over the resort families are wandering about staring at their phones rather than relaxing ang taking in the wonderful surroundings!

We had a relaxing 7 night stay at Shangri-La. It is a lovely resort with a very warm and friendly 'Bula' welcome.
The sea is calm and clear because of the reefs and there is easy access to free snorkelling, kayak and paddle board equipment. Our son loved the water park.
The pools are busy and games are regularly organised by the staff. Get there early if you want a lounger.
Food was good and plentiful though we needed more snack options for a lighter lunch.
(Prices for food are on a par with Australia wherever we went both in and out of the resort)
Staff are on the whole very friendly and helpful though their electronic systems for receipts do need you to double check at the end of your stay so do keep all of your receipts. The shops do take cash but the restaurants don't.
The Sacred Flame experience and buffet was excellent. It was easy to organise trips from within the hotel.
Rooms were clean and tidy and we enjoyed the surprise each day of a different animal towel!!!

We traveled here to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. The place was fantastic, the staff friendly, but by goodness it was expensive. There is no pay as you go with regards to eating and drinking at most places, so be prepared for a big bill at the end of the trip. We were also informed on checking in that we had not paid for the accommodation as yet, and this combined with the 'deposit' required up front was a big hit on day 1. Despite all this, we had an absolutely wonderful time - most days there was a towel 'animal' waiting for us in our room, and this and all the other little touches made it a special time. One other piece of advice - keep ALL your receipts and go through the final bill with a fine tooth comb - we found 4 things on our bill that were not ours.

This was my 5th trip to Fiji over the last 10 years , and opted for a solo vacation for a much needed break.

I booked one of the ocean view rooms in the “reef” wing which I would highly recommend if you are staying without children. Adults only on this side.
The reef wing also gives you access to the adults only pool that the rest of hotel can not use unless you have booked a reef wing room so it makes it feel a lot quieter, and more relaxing with less people around.
I love children but find the rest of hotel much too child friendly for me, awesome fun if you have kids to bring however they would have a ball. My room had great views over the ocean and was comfortable and spacious.
They give you 2 bottles of water each day when they clean your room , but you can also pop downstairs to the bar and request more as they are complimentary. Or when you are laying by pool.
My only feedback on the room would be the TV. Whilst I didn’t want to watch much tv , it would have been nice to watch a movie before bed/ have access to Netflix which in my experience should be the norm these days with nice hotels. Tv had only a few channels and they were mostly international or news.
The reef wing also gives you access to the adults only breakfast , which again was much more enjoyable than the main breakfast venues.
They do some nice little things each day , like a short show by locals , happy hour at various bars at hotel, complimentary drink in reef wing for sunset which was a nice touch.
Staff are as always super lovely and friendly.
Having stayed at some of the higher end resorts in Fiji at the outer islands, i wasn’t sure what to expect but I found it to be a lovely hotel for what you pay.

They have done up some parts of hotel (restaurants and bars ) so they looked nice and newish. Some other parts of hotel could use updating.
Prices for drinks I felt were reasonable, however I didn’t drink cocktails only wine (around $12 Aud For a wine.) I live in Sydney so feel this is on par.
And again various parts of hotel you can do happy hour and I think they are half price.

The water is not as nice as the outer islands (as to be expected) and found it to not be very clean so be mindful - this isn’t a reflection of the hotel, just an FYI.
The spa was lovely, had a 1 hour massage and felt like a new woman after.

Gym needs some work, great view on the water but half the equipment was broken.

Would definitely return and book reef wing again.

Had a relaxing 10 night stay at Shangri-La. Very friendly staff. Resort is very old being one of the first to be built in Fiji and having last being refurbished in the early 2000s.

However, it was very clean and the staff did a great job of keeping it that way. The sea was calm because of the reef. Kayaks, use of the water park, etc. were free. The two pools were OK and the water warm.

There were effectively only two restaurants for those with kids. The lagoon terrace had a buffet and the Takali, a rather limited fusion Asian fare. The closest town, Sigatoka, is F$40/- return by taxi.

My advice is keep all your receipts till you checkout. The hotel had included a charge of $200/- plus for a lunch we never had. When I pointed this out, the first question the checkout clerk asked was “Why? Don’t you have the receipt?” Had to then point out to her politely that we possibly couldn’t have a receipt for a dinner we never had!
The lady then went to a back room, got a bunch of receipts, went through them and then printed another sheet. She did not speak a word while she did this and all the while we were in front of her going through our copies of receipts. Poor communication bordering on rudeness. It was as if it was my fault that I found the error and asked them to correct it.

In the new bill she had dropped the incorrect charge. There was no apology for getting it wrong. Only after I pressed her did I get an explanation that they had included another room’s charge in ours. On our way to the airport the taxi driver said that this sort of thing has happened multiple times before to other guests at the hotel.

Stayed here for 8 nights with my wife and 2 kids (2.5 and .5 years) in February in an ocean room.

The resort itself is picture perfect, orientated to face the sunset for a perfect start to an evening. The pool is a great size with shallow and shady areas for the kids. The beach is fantastic, soft sand, clear water and plenty of deck chairs. There are some reefs to snorkel on however not a lot of coral.

The room was definitely suitable for 2 adults and 2 young children. We had a king bed, sofa bed and cott. The view was amazing. Bathroom and other amenities were ok.

Had a great time on the floating park. Unfortunately it’s only for ages 7 and up but when we started using it we could understand.

Baby sitting was good value at 24fjd for 3 hours.

Had a few issues with noise and the clarity of the final bill but this was quickly resolved by an excellent manager which was very much appreciated.

Although most of the staff give you the warm ‘Bula!’ Upon passing, something can be said for this ‘Fiji time’ theme that seems to run within the resort. At times, It seemed to take a long time to receive drinks and food around the pool areas, even though there appeared to be a lot of staff doing very little. The beach bar and grill food was average and over priced.

However at the takali (Asian ) restaurant, the lunch and dinner menu was fantastic and served quickly. The kids meals were excellent and the staff pleasant. The balcony area at the restaurant was beautiful in the evenings.

Breakfast was also served here. We liked most of it however the bakery side of things was average, it was quite clear due to the dryness of the breads/pastries they were not baked fresh. Also the coffee was terrible.

Thanks for a great stay we hope to return one day.

Stayed in the Grand Delux. Room was sizeable but had a strong mold stench, leaking air con and smart tv setup problems and no way of adjusting the volume, but sleep quality was good. Recommend staying in the Lagoon Wing of the resort if you prefer a good beach as the reef wing has rocky shallow beaches. Staff were the best ive experienced in fiji so far, and the only fiji resort ive found that sizeable staff mended the water activities. Water Park was pretty dirty, and resort didnt provide snorkels. The Gym was my favourite area of the property. Buffet Breakfast at the Lagoon Terrace was ok, Buffet Dinner was $48, but preferred the A la Carte selection at Beach Bar & Grill.

We stayed at 'The Reef' which is an adults only end of the resort, with a beautiful cocktail lounge and rooms facing the ocean. If you're traveling as a couple - the reef is well worth the extra cost. You have the golf course and spa right at your doorstep - you also have your own shuttle to other parts of the resort. We were only here 3 nights at the end of our honeymoon. It's a beautiful resort but after leaving the Yasawa Island Resort & Spa, it felt big and busy. Having do it over, I would stay on mainland first, then fly to Yasawa Island.
There is plenty to do - loved the mini golf and the actual golf course is great as well. Short, wide fairways.

What a great place for a very relaxing holiday, this place has it all.

This is a superb Resort that has two accommodation sections one for Adults and a section for families with children. There is a variety of dining options and again some only for guests over the age of 16. There is an Italian restaurant, Asian restaurant, Beach Bar & Grill restaurant, Lagoon Terrace restaurant and other eateries that are open during the day around the pool. The family pool and beach area have life guards during the day. The beach area has Thatched roof shade huts that have a buzzer for food and drink service, so you don't have to move from your relaxing beach time.

The resort has a 9 hole golf course, as well as a mini golf course called Na Koro Putt Putt for the kids, and a kids play area .

There is a Gym and a Spa for very relaxing massages.

There is even a Chapel if during your stay you decide to tie the knot with your love one.

Nearly everything is charged to your room, so you might want to keep track of your spending or you might be in for a shock when you check out.
The rooms are very clean with a very comfortable bed. If you can, I suggest you try and book a ground floor room as you then have access from either the room door or the veranda.
