This August my grandchildren will become the fourth generation of our family to stay at Poland Springs Resort. This is a budget vacation, I don’t want to leave people thinking this is a spa with fancy exercise rooms and an Olympic size pool. There is a modest pool, dirt and paved trails for both walks and bikes, small swing set, kids play room, two museums and a variety of local attractions such as Sebago Lake State Park, Maine Wildlife Park, Sabbathday Lake Shaker Village and Carousel Horse Farm, just to name a few. Poland Springs has one goal- to be the #1 most relaxing vacation, and they nail it. There is a lake with boat rentals, an ice cream stand next to a mini golf course, a fabulous porch with rocking chairs and adirondacks. You have two on site restaurant options for lunch and dinner, and you can enjoy the hotel’s breakfast buffet or drive a bit up the road for a regular breakfast restaurant. The Maine Inn has a library and a game room full of board games and puzzles. Sometimes there are movies in the afternoon. Friday nights there is music at the pub. Your small ones can run around without bothering anyone, and your older ones can sit on the porch and admire the incredible view across the golf course. Within an hour radius of Poland Springs Resort you’ll find Freeport, Portland, Augusta, Lewiston, and Brunswick- all lovely shopping destinations with brew pubs and galleries. And of course, there’s the casino. The prices at Poland Springs Resort are probably the real draw- our last stay was a Friday in July ‘21, and our room in the Presidential Inn was $99. People come to Poland Springs Resort and stay for weeks at a time. Obviously!
