Labor Day weekend on Sanibel Island

Review of Seaside Inn
Reviewed Sep 5, 2022
Wonderful staff and a nice quiet setting. No, the buildings and rooms are not new, but we had everything we needed. We stayed in a gulf front room that had a microwave, refrigerator, and coffeemaker. Out of curiosity, we toured one of the 1 br cottages that had a more complete kitchen and separate bedroom. Again, the countertops, cabinetry, and flooring are not the newest, but we liked the unpretentious feel of old Florida.
A special thanks the Amber, Lena, and Lily in the office. Always cheerful and helpful!
We will definitely return.

We had such a pleasant stay at Seaside Inn and I can't wait to tell you about it. From the moment we walked in Cameron greeted us and was super accommodating. A very professional enthusiastic staff member. We loved the short walk to the beach, the pool was crystal clear and refreshing, and the room was clean and spacious. We met Amber at the front desk in the evening and she made sure we had everything we needed for our stay. When we checked out in the morning, Lily was super friendly and when we encountered a slight problem, she was diligent about finding the solution and even called to reassure us. We will definitely return to Seaside Inn! We love Sanibel!

first off, i really did enjoy my stay here, it was quaint and beachy, don't expect anything boutique or brand new but it was so relaxing and the hotel fee covered really great extras like continental breakfast, coffee, bikes, beach umbrellas and loungers, cookies etc. these are things that other hotels especially in vacation spots charge extra for, so we really appreciated all the facilities included in the price. it was super quiet (the lady in reception said this is the low season, and it can get very busy between december and may) and we felt like we had the place to ourselves a lot of the time. the beach was very clean and full of pretty shells. the staff on reception were always friendly and helpful.

the reason i am only giving 3* is that since coming back from the vacation i have developed a very painful ear infection, which i haven't had since i was a kid - and i swim regularly, but have not suffered with this before as a resylr. i think the fact that the outdoor pool is almost hot tub temperature throughout the day and evening (due to the high heat in florida) may have had something to do with me getting an infection, i also didn't see anybody cleaning it when we were around the hotel. my daughter has also developed a low grade fever. i'm not saying that we 100% got this from the hotel pool, but it is by far the warmest pool i have ever been in and the chlorine content did not seem particularly strong.

Greetings,

Thank you for sharing your insight on your recent stay with us. Although I am pleased to see you had enjoyed many aspects of your stay, I regret to see you had a poor experience involving our pool!

In regards to the areas mentioned, we do not keep the pool heated during the Summer months but rest assured we will be following up with our staff to see if there had been any possibility of this being mistakenly put into a heated setting. With the cleanings, we have a pool contractor come throughout the week to service our pool, which involves - cleaning, temperature checks and chemical balancing.

We wish you and your daughter all the best! Please feel free to reach out to me directly if you would prefer to discuss this further - bstanze@theinnsofsanibel.com.

The property is older but well maintained. I was surprised with the extras available to the guests. Bikes, paddle boards, kayaks, shuffle board, corn hole, shell cleaning station, barbecue, laundry facility, beach chairs, umbrellas, etc. Continental breakfast was served in the office and this was also better stocked than I expected. Coffee, water, milk, pastries, muffins, cereals, yogurt, apples sauce, mixed fruit, fresh fruit, boiled eggs and more. We stayed in a cottage. Plenty of space and a well supplied kitchen. Usually we find thrift store finds in the kitchen, but everything looked like it was never used. The toaster and coffee maker still had the safeties on the plugs. Bring your own coffee and filter if you want to make your own coffee or just head up to the front desk during breakfast. There was also a microwave, stove, oven and fridge. All the utensils also looked new: 4 of the dinner plates, salad plates, bowls, glasses, cups, mugs, forks, knives, spoons, etc. There was a mixing bowl, cutting board, dish drainer, soap, new sponge, nice set of spatulas large spoons, large chef knives, and non stick pots and pans with lids. The beach was very beautiful and not crowded. We went our every morning to watch the sunrise and it was amazing. The property was also quieter than the larger hotels, which is a huge plus for us. We were also able to park right next to our cottage. The staff was great. Very pleasant check in and I received texts making sure everything was alright. This exceeded my expectations and hope to come back soon!

We found this place 7 years ago when we came for our Babymoon. I purposed to my wife that weekend on the beach behind. We’ve came back 3 times with our family for weekend getaways. This place will always be special to us and it’s been enjoyable every time we come back to visit. Thanks for the memories!

I understand policies, this was a nonrefundable trip. We were going for work and unfortunately exposed to Covid and I sent the positive Covid test as requested and never heard back from the hotel and no option of rescheduling. I was disappointed that they would not work with me on rescheduling our trip due to Covid.
We were trying to protect others instead of coming there and being sick, and I feel like I was penalized for that.
I have given it a one star based off of customer service but I don’t know what the hotel actually looks like because we did not go and I don’t have an option to reschedule the two rooms that were booked.

Room tip: Check policies on refunds or credits for this property

Greetings Tara,

First and foremost, please accept our sincerest apologies in regards to the trouble in receiving a cancellation and refund on your reservation. We follow closely to the guidelines provided regarding COVID and any positive-resulted tests would result in a cancellation and refund in full.

In regards to speaking to someone and emailing COVID positive results, we have not received these results directly here at the hotel. May I inquire if this had perhaps been sent to the third party?

We very much want to get to the bottom of this! At your convenience, I would like to invite you to connect with me to remedy this situation at hand. I can be reached directly at:
