I have stayed in many different properties in the desert area throughout the years, and this property certainly has a lot to offer. But, the Desert Isle isn't to my taste.
We stayed in unit 31, which is off Palm Canyon Drive. On check in the employee mentioned since our bedroom is behind the kitchen we wouldn't hear any traffic noise. Since we hadn't stayed here before, I didn't have a clue what he was talking about. It was a Thursday night and so we didn't hear any traffic until Friday at 6:30 AM, when the trash truck started on the property. And, it went by twice. Then trucks backed up to make deliveries to the neighboring restaurant. We again heard traffic Friday night, when cars/motorcycles were speeding along the boulevard.
The property was a hotel years ago, and the rooms have walls similar to a hotel room....thin. The bedroom, where we weren't suppose to hear traffic noises, backed up to another room's bedroom. This proved to be a problem at 11:30 PM when the individuals in room 32 decided to be intimate---and they were loud.
We stayed in a 1 bedroom suite, and the space was very large. The entire space was immaculate! The king sized bed was very comfortable. But, one blanket on the bed wasn't warm enough for 48 degrees outside and a heater set for 65 degrees, as we don't like stuffy rooms. We had to ask for an additional blanket the next day. The kitchen is stocked with new kitchenware and we appreciated a full size refrigerator. We barbequed pork loin for dinner one night and made pancakes for breakfast one morning. We purchased dessert at the neighboring deli. The chocolate cake and carrot cake are delicious.
We enjoyed the tennis courts. They are in excellent condition. The pool, well it is a shame there is a large beautiful oasis pond, which is only for looks, and a swimming pool that has a dark bottom and is surrounded by a fence. According to the internet the pond was a pool at one time. It would certainly be more relaxing to lay around the oasis pond, than looking out at a chain link fence.
So, my complaint....the room is like a cave. It is very very dark during the day. The windows are under an overhang and unit 31 is across from another unit, so the room doesn't get any sun. I guess this is fine when it is scorching hot outside, but on a winter day, I want to see the sun. The patio overlooks the neighboring rooms. The walls are painted burnt orange and a dark taupe. The carpet is taupe. The wood ceiling is taupe. I felt like I was in the Bat Cave.
This resort definitely has a lot to offer, but I am not sure I will be back.
