I booked my reservation directly through their website. I had seen a lower rate on booking.com, so I called and spoke directly to the reservation line. It was late and the gentleman told me that a manager wasn’t on site, it was late at night, but said to bring in a printed copy of the lower rate and show it at check in for them to adjust the rate. I booked and prepaid for the room, sent an email to their reservation email with my situation hoping they would make the adjustments in advance, but I never got a response.
At check in I told the front desk agent the situation, told him who I had spoken with, and showed him my print out with the lower rate. Again, a manager wasn’t on duty, so he would have to make a call. He went into the back office to make the call, and when he returned, he said they were not going to make the adjustment because I had prepaid the room. While this seemed ridiculous because I had done exactly what the previous employee had told me to do for an adjustment, I said “That’s fine, you can keep the $30, and I will just write a review online.”
It was at this point that Nathan, the front desk agent was more than happy to refund my money, but he was going to refund all of it as he was cancelling my reservation. So instead of staying at the hotel I had visited visited many times in the past, but never stayed the night, I was left out in the cold on a busy Friday night to try and find a place to stay. Luckily there was a very nice and understanding agent at the hotel next door that was happy to help me out.
I know that I probably should have but my tongue instead of saying I was going to review them, but I was very that a place was going to play hardball because they basically had my money already. For a place that says they want their guest to have a great stay so they will write a positive review, Nathan was more than happy to tell me to basically go eff myself because I had dared to prepay the reservation.
